Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

No crisis at all - he did have 3 great rounds , but it’s not 4 , he did the same at Augusta - 3 great rounds

It needs to be 4 great rounds

He will challenge in majors - he is a top player , than doesn’t matter which tour he is in

But when it comes to a major he and along with anyone else needs to be 100% focused on that major

The social media stuff could easily be a distraction or reduce focus

I genuinely think Bryson enjoys the tinkering with golf equipment and the mix of social media / YouTube with celebrities, more than he enjoys being a professional golfer

He’s won a bunch on the PGA Tour and LIV, is clearly set for life (many times over) and won two US Opens, played in the Ryder Cup etc, messed about in Long Drive comps etc…..I honestly think he appears happier than many pro golfers, and I’m guessing that much of that stems from being in golf, but mixing in non-pro tournament golf

Which has been said about multiple players over the decades

Winning Maxi events gives him the money , winning a major is very hard and is a step up from any tour
Not sure I agree with this comment. Majors are the exact same format as just about every other competition on the tour -unlike a lot of other sports where they play longer matches - tennis Grand Slams, snooker World Champs, even Darts has a longer format for the big competitions. For me, Majors need something more than tradition or tricked up rough/greens to make them stand out and be 'harder to win'.

The courses are generally set up harder , the pressure is more intense , the field is prob the strongest in those four events

The players will tell you that the pressure and intensity is vastly different when competing in a major

Pressure is hyped up by the press.
Is the field stronger for the Open when anyone can try to qualify and there are also a lot from 'lesser' tours who qualify through their own National Opens?
Only the USPGA is set up much harder than usual.

This is my opinion and you are entilted to your own.

Well acchully....
The top 3 strength of field events for 2025 were all major championships.
Followed by the players, Scottish open(!) and then the Masters in 6th.
So they are the strongest fields, and although hard to quantify, I would say that they have the best 'test' in the way they are set up.
A bit of facts, and a bit of imho....;-)

And that's without the extra pressure of knowing that they are major championships and that everyone judges golfers by what they achieve in them.

Went along to the Senior Open at Sunningdale on Saturday. Most enjoyable time. Wrote a few words on reminiscing and sports nostalgia that might interest

Remember reading about Peter Thompson in his first year on the US Seniors tour won more money then he did in his entire career as a pro......

5 Opens must have not payed well in those days.

I went down a bit of a hole researching seniors earnings after hearing what Harrington had raked in, Langers winnings since moving onto seniors tour are frightening
