Just wondering guys if anyone plays these premium balls; and if so, any comments or reaction to how they performed on the course, good bad or indifferent.

Overpriced for what they are. I am playing Wilson Staff DX2 and they are every bit as good as a pro-v in my eyes.

Perhaps a lower handicaper would notice the difference.

I notice you use the AD333, why oh why does everybody rave about these? I tried them and got a few mates to try them too, we all though they were complete rubbish.

to get the best out of a premium ball you have to have swing speed that can compress the ball but still are great ball for everyone with the soft feel they offer,my experience prov1s and prov1x scuff like crazy so dont use them

I love them for there feel around the greens and off the wedges.

I have tried other balls including the wilson/ad333's and taylor made but the refurbed prov1's and prov1x's I get(12 for £10) are great for me!

you got to try the bridgstones if you like a lower ball flight but with plenty of stop on the greens its the only ball what i have ever played with that didnt scuff up just a bit of paint loss

Agree with Medwayjon, I use Wilson Staff PX3s or DX2s and for my skill level they are every bit as good as ProVs at half the price.

I use prov1 and 1x and I haven't found a ball as good, yet.
Incidently there is a once hit new one in the river ribble, adjacent to the 10th tee ;).
I do quite like the Dx2, TP black and srixon trispeed but overall performance is Pro v's

I have to disagree about wilson Px3s or Dx2s being as good as pro vs, better value maybe but they are not a better ball, not in the same league in fact- the nearest Wilson gets and something they admit to being their only premium bracket ball is what I am using at the moment...

The Wilson TX4 (got 2 dozen brand new for £24- bit of a bargain compared to rrp) and they are almost identical in the way they play to the Prov1 x, different from the standard pro v though. I still maintain that if money is not an issue Pro vs are what every golfer should play as nothing is as good in my opinion and that of some thousand odd professionals around the world. I however will not see me purchasing any in the future as what with the amount of balls I loose on odd rounds it would be financially crippling :D They are superb balls though, they do everything you would expect of them. As I have touched on above, there are many better value balls out there but nothing that is actually as good from those I have so far experienced.

Pesonally at my level a pro v1 would be suicide played the AD333 and even that spins too much for me.

Swing isn't good enough often enough to play premium. I am currently trialling Srixon Distance and they are pretty good for me.

Mind you i try and line my ball up so all i see is white on the tee so it could be a topflite

I like the ProV balls, but I do find the putting a bit scary. That's not the ball's fault though!
All the balls getting a mention on here get my nod....Srixon, W/S Dx2, etc.
I used a Nike Ball today...also very good.
Personaly, I'd rather use a cheaper ball and change them more often than trying to get maximum value out of a premium ball. Then again, spin and softness are not top of my shopping list.

Is it me.....or do even un-scuffed balls eventually lose that extra zip off the long clubs? No ball lasts forever.....wouldn't want to pay double the price of my favourite..the Dx2.

I switched to srixon zurc or zurs las year, they every bit as good as pro v's, cheaper and last longer. The zurs also has a softer feel.

I have found Srixon ZUR whatever to be too clicky off the putter. Other Srixons are way too soft, and lack any feel at all, like hitting a jelly.
Same for Wilson DX2s, too soft. Not tried other Wilsons.
Nike One platinum, too clicky on the putter.
Nike One black, cuts up too badly.
TM have too big dimples, and don't look round (just a personal thing).
Titleist non proVs, cut too badly.
ProV1x cut up too badly, but nice off the driver.
ProV1 = ball of choice. Only because there is nothing better.
Pinnacle platinum feel = not as bad as people think, other pinnacles = rocks.
Topflight = no, don't do this to yourself.

Best ball ever, Tileist professional.

I use the V1 as i feel that this is the ball that offers the best greenside feel, also compared to the V1x you dont have to swing or hit the ball hard to get the performance out of this ball. For the average club golfer the type of ball doesn't really matter that much, apart from when you get near the green. So for the most part I feel that the ball you use from tee to green is based more on confidence than anything else, e.g if you have a Pro V1 then you might play much better than you would useing a Top Flite, yes this is down to the ball, but over all its confidence. However as people have said before they do scuff far to easily for the amount of money that we pay for them.

Wilson DX2 too soft for me
Warbird's too hard and useless around the greens
NXT pretty good, I liked them a lot, but not worth £20+
Nike seem pretty decent and I don't mind playing with them
Not tried any TM balls.
Pro vee's are v good but over priced and you have to be cat 1 to get any improvement out of them.
Srixon are the best suited for my game, but I guess the AD333 being the best selling ball says something about the reason why people rave about them, great for distance and excellent around the greens.

Right about NXT's, I used to use them a lot when I first started golf but got to learn that as far as they went, they were awful around the greens.

Callaway HX Hots were another ball I liked, I won some and they played well, not enough to depose the DX2's though.

One of the most underrated balls in my eyes is the Maxfli Noodle/Noodle+

I have played a lot with these, they are a good ball distance wise (300yd 3W on the last meet) and play well around the greens. They seem to last well too, not scuffing up as badly as many other balls.
