Did anyone give themselves a target or goal before the season started and if so, have you achieved it or revised your target. Mine were -

1. get a handicap and reduce it to 9 (my initaial handicap of 7 somewhat ecplipsed my pre-season goal, revised this to reduce handicap to 6)

2. do a full round without 3 putting, done this a few times, hopefully more to come.

3. keep a 6 or worse off the card, been close, carding only one six in a recent round.

4. enjoy playing, as frustrating as this game can be, I always try and make a point of not losing control (it has happened on a couple of occasions though)

Not fulfiled mine.

It was to join a club and get a handicap less than 15.

After the club I wanted to join messed me about I decided to leave it untill next year and stay nomad whilst I learnt my trade!

Playing to between 12-15 though so am still happy with that after 9 months in the game!

1) Achieve a recorded 300+ yard drive - Several recorded included one with a 3-wood!

2) Break 90 - Achieved this 4 times

3) Go a round with no worse than a double bogey, achieved this once courtesey of a 20ft putt, thank god.

4) Birdie any of the difficult holes at my club - Achieved this on all bar the 15th.

being a total novice my target is still to beat 100 but i have had some really good holes followed by disasters so consistency is what i also hope to achieve.

My main aim was to get a handicap after joining my first club at the start of the year and I did that within 2 months and have now got it down to 18 although I'm hoping for a cut when I go out this afternoon. Aim number 2 was to play to my handicap consistently but this hasn't happened one round I'll play 10 over the next i'll play 26 over!

I was doing well this year (cut from 18.5 to 16.1) but the wheels have come off big stylee , need to get some sort of rhythm back. Would love to get to my target of 14 by the end of the summer.

Can't remember mine....

but I'm playing almost as well as I would've liked....just need to find the consistency of old (or close) and work out how to trust my new swing.

Mine was to start playing to my 26 h/c. Unfortunately my health has not improved as quickly as hoped. It has improved a bit but the golf has deteriorated. I will keep trying.

Wanted to get to 3, have been glimpses of good form but never backed up from one round to the next, still a few games left this season. Started 5.0 got to 4.7 now back at 4.9, steady this season but a bit uninspiring. After the club champs in late June my golf always tails off, don't know why. Have a 36 hole Open on Saturday so hoping I can get one decent score out of it.

I wanted to get down to 17 but actually rose to 20, back down to 19 and think things are heading in right direction. not sure if i will make 17 though.
also wanted a round without anything higher than a 6 - i have managed that but my best round of the year so far actually included a 7 and a 8.

I started of well and dropped 0.8 and 0.4 but too many non buffer zoned games have me pretty much where I started, captains day and a few other big comps have yet to happen so hopefully there is still plenty of time to drop the 2 shots I have set my sights on.

Nope, not hit any of them. Not fussed to be honest, as long as I am enjoying it. Particularly nice to play in the sunshine this last weekend.

My recent target has been to get 18 holes in without getting wet.

1. Handicap up from 12.2 to 12.5 (=13, aaarrgh)

2. 21 Complete rounds played of which 5 have been 3-putt-free.

3. Keep a 6+ off the card? Er, no I haven't managed to do that....

4. I've really enjoyed my golf this year despite not really setting the course alight.

1.To regularly beat my best mate.

2.To regularly score less than a ton & to be scoring in the low to mid eighties, when on par 72 courses.

3.To get my Driver going straight more of the time.

4.To Improve my short Game further

5.To regularly be making 30 putts in a rounds & toeliminate the 3 putt all togather.

The ironic thing is towards the end of last season I was doing just that. Though Ironically when in club comps it was nearer the mid ninties as a score in a round, yet they still hadn't cut my handicap.

I was beating my mate

However of late things have taken a nose dive scoring has been in the low hundreds round par 72's
Putts per round had increased, three putts were like warts on my score card, Somehow I couldn't see aline or a break for love nor money. My putter had gotten like a venomous snake in my hands, with involintary twitches all over the place. I was twitching more than Bill Oddie.

Fortunatly the Putts are under control again, the scores coming down, back into the nineties, even chipping to tap in distances. Ther other week I actually struck a flagstick with my ball out of the bunker, something I've not managed since before the new year.

All I really need to do is get my driver under control & improve my consistency in striking, something that has been a bit lack luster during the middle half of this year so far.

I want to get down to 4, I've managed to get down to 5.3 from 7.2 so far this year. The last 3 medals have been cancelled due to heavy rain flooding the greens so I've not played in a competition for a month which hasn't helped.

Not good.

handicap is Up +0.2 (that doesn't look bad but it's only on 3 comps!)
swing keeps going absent.

on the plus side, I have had my two best rounds to date - not in competition of course!
course management is improving, sometimes
I have managed to add a few more new tracks to the list

Wanted to get down from 22 to 18 and achieved that quite quickly. Haven't played as much as I would have liked (bad weather & bad knees) but fancy my chances of getting down to 16/17 before the frost sets in.

Having my usual "whores knickers" of a season, up and down more often than yes you've guessed it!

Also got a 36 holer on Saturday but swinging like the octopus falling out a tree quote of a certain irish comentator. Hands are far too active through the ball and just cant feel the swing at all just now. Had a lesson today and struggled badly.

Tomorrow is an all day shot on the range!
