My course has just had a couple of nets fitted, (a little like Beau and Blackmoor).

How long do you spend on the putting green and in the nets? Also what clubs do you try in the nets, or is it all about the swing?

Its more about loosening up than anything else when your hitting into the net.I normally hit 10-12 shots with a sand wedge, then the same with a 6 or 7 iron. Then have 10 minutes on the putting green.
Still play like a knob though,no matter how much i practice before teeing off,lol

I use the nets at all 3 of my regular courses.
Never for long, just enough to loosen up and check I can hit some mid-irons clean, then tee up a driver or two and try to find the middle. 20 max
Then I find all the balls I can which are the same as my game ball and chip/pitch around the practice green. 4 or 5 lobs over the bunker then 4 or 5 sand shots.
Then putting green, then 1st tee.

I still maintain that for me a proper range is BAD news.

ALL my best rounds have come after going to the range either in the morning or the night before.

I'm starting to think the same way. Too much practice before a round is bad news for me. Don't think I'll bother this weekend. 5 mins in the nets to warm up, Mess around on the chipping green with my weges then hit the 1st tee.

I thought your warm up routine comprised of a handbrake stop in the car park and then chasing your playing partners who teed off 5 minutes earlier down the 1st fairway....a la Camberley!... :o :D :D

You routine is so much better Rick. Run on the tee late, desperately try to pull on a glove and find a ball, and then smack it into the houses. :D

NEVER going on the range before a game again. Ruins me every time.

Half a dozen hits in a net would do me, if we had one.

10 minutes on the practice green if I'm early enough.

10-15 on putting green, then hit some 7i & hybrid in the nets about 5 mins. Would love to hit some drives into but it's right behind the first tee people get right arsey! Then 5 mins chipping and pitching. Then onto the tee box and top it 30 yards ! ;)

A pint of bitter and a chat. Hit 3 or 4 putts to understand the speed of the green then off to he first tee.

Can't see the point of anything other than this at the level of golf we play. You aren't going to suddenly transform into a better player in the hour before you play.

This, plus a few weighted swings with a 6 and 7 iron in hand to loosen me up.

Not sure the quick build up really helped you yesterday

A few putts and away. Time is usually against me espaically Saturdays playing at Dad's taxi before the game

I was thinking of asking for a shrine or similar to be put next to the first tee to pray for a good tee shot.

Makes sense doing first as I usually mutter 'Oh for god's sake' somewhere between hitting it and it landing!!
