Practice putting green

Ours is very close. I'd say it's one of the better ones I've played on. Some places you see the practice green so far off the condition and speed of the actual greens that it's completely pointless using it before playing.

Not far off, only drawback is its as flat as a pancake, we only have one flat green on the course so no practicing putts that break.

Do the green staff use a different mower for the course and for the putting green?

I've no idea what they do, but they appear to have very different grass coverage. Our greens are top drawer, putting greens not so much. I'm happy with that. No complaints from me, just answering the question ;-)

At one of my courses the practice green is the best green on the course and a shade quicker than the greens.
I do not use it before play other than for a couple of straight short putts.

Is your practice putting green the same speed/condition as the greens on your course?

cop out response -

the practice putting green is within 0.1, the chipping green is a different construction and bears little relationship to the course greens.

this (as an issue) will be addressed - probably by permitting low level chipping to the putting green!

personally I find it more important to establish the chiiping ratios for the greens than anything else (confidence issues aren't related to speed).

Ours is usually quicker but not much and as I know that I can adapt :-)

It's a good amount of area and some flat putts and putts with break so can't complain.

its similar.

You can chip and pitch onto the back third of it.

Its never closed, even when the rest of the greens are temps, yet remains in fantastic condition.

Begs the question, why do we have temps?

Like ours, however I reckon that's an excuse for laziness in not wanting to water the greens late afternoon.

Pro now tells me they are cut everyday but not short enough, you can hear the ball running thru it and your feet can leave an impression:angry:

If its not improved for todays medal I'll have to say to the appropriate people. We have stunning weather in peak golf time and 'hairy greens':angry::angry:
