Had a bit of a mare today, thought I'd share.......

decided to to hit the practice ground for an hour at lunchtime today, armed with my new shag bag containing my new purchase of 48 practice grade prov1 from AG.

Got there to find a deserted practice ground, just how I like it...

had a bit of warm-up then started hitting wedges, got about 2/3 of the way through the balls, when I saw a ball go across the practice ground at right angles to where I was hitting from. Closely followed by another one.....

looked to my left to see a bloke firing balls across the range......

then I realised that due to the club hosting the lagonda trophy (national amateur comp), the range had been turned sideways to accommodate the 300yard plus driving distances of the +handicap field, and that in fact I was the one playing the wrong way, and that I should been at the top end of the practice ground, not the bottom end/middle.

to make it worse, when I had waited 20 minutes for the bloke to finish hitting his balls, I walked out to the area that my balls had landed, to find hundreds, literally hundreds, of range balls, so took me bloody ages to locate mine.

plonker :o:o

That is top quality, laughed like a drain

On the plus side you can tell everyone you hit your pw to the same area as a +handicap golfer was hitting a driver:thup:

Could've been worse, seeing a ball go right angles from where your aiming could have been you shanking it!! Haha. Much better seeing what you saw!

Honest mistake on your part. Would probably have happened to me as well if they suddenly changed the direction of our range. Still, it must have felt embarrassing when it happened, so thanks for sharing that story. :D
