Ive no problem with his money and agree he's usually good value on twitter. But complaining because his wife has to look after her own kids? For me that's the ridiculous part!

This is absolutely correct! Poults has not thought very clearly before pressing send here!!

'How the other half live?' - clearly it doesn't involve any 'hands on' hard work with kids!
The true irony is that, I'm sure that looking after kids in business class is ten times easier than, when they are crammed in to economy, however, it appears that Mrs P can't manage even that!

Actually you don't. Read the terms and conditions of carriage. The airline may overbook flights and bump and/or downgrade passengers. You only have the right to get to your destination.

A bit of protesting is fine, but they can say it is either a downgrade or wait for the next flight.

BA staff are very used to the DYKWIA line and have a series of withering replies available. The best one is to make an announcement on the tannoy that they have a passenger who does not know who they are and ask for anyone who can help to step forward.

Really? I've heard this for so many different airlines that I call urban myth.

I like poults, he's a breath of fresh air compared to the "political answer" golfers we often see. Take away all the surrounding stuff and bring it back to the fact he never got what he paid for!!! He's quite right having a whine about it IMO. Why shouldn't he get what he pays for??? The airlines have been doing this overbooking crap for years and I'm glad someone with a set of cojones and some public clout has made it a PR storm for them. All the seats on the airline are booked, they have their money they are just being greedy unscrupulous vultures by overselling them. Personally I think they should be prosecuted for it and I wish someone with money, like pouter would sue them or something.

If you buy a new ford mondeo for 20k and somewhere in the 200 pages of horsecrap small print there's a get out clause that says, if no mondeos are available we have the right to give you a 10 grand fiesta, plus £2000 of your money back, would you be happy????
