Well me and Missis T have just got back from a mucky free weekend in Porto. We loved it.
As the years have gone by our city weekend breaks have fallen into two category's.
citys you can do in a weekend, Krakov, Amsterdam, Genoa, Dublin, Porto falls into that category.
Citys you cannot do in a weekend, Milan, Rome, Berlin, London. Manchester😉

A massive plus was going straight to the tram station from the airport. 30 euros later me and Missis T were sorted for tram fares for three days. Five mins after getting off at Bolhao we were at the InPorto guesthouse. Refurbed from an abandoned dump two years ago. It is now Six rooms and fantastic.
the food was gorgeous and cheap, first night was a tapas in Tasco resturaunt and for 36 euro total was a steel.
loved it and put it on your list.

but, in June there is a romantic festival in the city where you show your true love how much you love her by smashing her over the head with a hammer. Looking for flights already.
Am sure an spoilt for choice in the garage re hammers.

Hobbit, Florence is lovely but you can have a cultural overdose. Another museum, another art gallery, another museum, another art gallery. A weekend is enough but it's worth it for the ice cream alone.

We didn't do the six bridges river cruise, but it's on our list of to dos next along with the cable car down to the port houses. Gutted we could not pull in a football game.
On the Friday morning, we caught the no 18 tourist tram down to no1 tram and went to the coast. there was a low weather front over Porto and the waves smashing into the harbour walls were 30-40footers. It was just awesome to watch. Then had a coastal walk up to the cruise terminal and caught tram back to Porto.

Re Florence, we stayed in a farm guest house quite a few years ago it was a couple of miles away from Pisa. It was like going back 50 years, thunderstorms, power cuts and everything. Brilliant. I drove up to Florence for the day. We loved it, but we spent some of the day looking for the Gucci factory shop. We found it and the savings were massive, but, and I never knew this. The Jimmy Choo factory shop was in the same building and the women were going mad. Didn't do owt for me nor Missis T thankfully. Missis T is usually quite happy shopping for cheap shoes, ( she bought another pair in Porto). Anyway, I never knew that if you bought a pair of Jimmy Choo crocodile skin shoes, you have to have a certificate with them.

My hope is that Missis T will be swayed on getting a Motorhome, coz my first destination is Tuscany. It will cost me a fortune if I do get one coz the amount of stuff I would bring back would be massive.

Did you visit any of the port houses on the South side of the river?

No it was not until the following day of looking down from the north side that all the names on the buildings ie Dows, sandelmams, etc are the port houses. When we were in Lisbon two years ago we had a tapas. We finished off with a freebie port and it was like drinking silk. He said the bottles are like " rocking horse muck". Fortunately we managed to get a bottle.

Will deffo book again ( at the same place) as the transfer to the hotel was fantastic. There's still a bit I wanna see inc a game. If ever in Porto check out the Tasco resturaunt.

If you're getting a motorhome come down to Los Gallardos camping and we'll meet up in the village for tapas and several beers!!
