political compass test

Looks like most are one way politically - certainly more closer to Ghandi than Thatcher and Hitler :D

I simply gave up as the questionnaire is so manipulative.

example

"Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care"

which is the same (reversed obviously) as

"It should be illegal to purchase better medical treatment than your state provides"

because the only way to remove a right would be to make something illegal......

but I bet many/most would respond differently!

I guess you've never, or hardly ever, taken psychometric tests then!

Foxy is right, it is a standard technique in these sorts of tests to deliberately NOT give you a middle ground, and to repeat and invert questions, so that the analysis has a consistent basis of conclusion.

So I don't have a problem with that; but in this case it is showing all of us to be peace-loving liberals, and we know from our debates on here that is far from the case .... UNLESS in fact we are all peace loving liberals, and all our Forum banter is just a male front that we put on with lots of other cliquey males. Now if we could just get everyone to drop their fronts (!?) and engage in some humanistic interactions, the golfing world would be a better place ;)

I've always known I was an anarchist- it's nice to have some theory which tells me why ! :)

I reckon if they had just added one question on Dress Codes, the results would have massively skewed off to the top right corner ! :)

So far I think I'm the closest to dead centre, that is what we're all aiming for right??

Economic 0.5
Libertarian/authoritarian -1.98

All in all I have no idea why I took the test I have no idea what the results mean!

There is no right/wrong or 'aim' place.

I'm a little surprised that there are only 2 responses in the top right quadrant, though not by who at least 1 of them is.

I always used to describe Political views by a clock-face method, but this seems better, as it separates the 2 major factors.

In my Clock (Left Right) system, NZ opinion seemed 11:10, England 9:15, Scotland 1:45 and US 2:20!

I may be wrong but it seemed to be calibrated at more of a US type audience. And where someone may think themselves as being just right of centre over here, the same political views would brand you as a pinko communist in the US. Especially from an economic standpoint.

I thought that too. Though the question about Multi-Nationals challenges that. That's what my clock-face analogy implies. To see Obama's position as only marginally left of 'far right' reflects that too. Joe McCarthy would have been off the scale high right!

Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.03

Later on, I'll have a closer look to see if I'm close to any well-known nutter.

No idea what this means.... I think I might be Captain Kirk in a former life... or Ghandi, Yoda or Luke Skywalker
