Just been to the range for a couple of hours and not wanting to wear out the only new glove I have left I used an old one which is a bit stretched. After a while started to get annoying so I took it off and started hitting balls without one for the 1st time ever.

You know what, all of a sudden I had more feel, I felt like I was more in control of the club and it maybe coincidence but I started hitting the ball better.

So I was wondering what I would actually be missing by not using a glove? What about in the rain?

Anyone got any views?

i have not worn a glove for over a year and do not notice any difference. gloves are useless in rain anyway. and i have saved a few bob as well.
try it and see, you have nothing to loose

2/3 years after I started playing, some 20yrs ago, I watched Freddie 'Boom Boom' Couples winning some tournement, and he didnt wear a glove, and never has.
I stopped wearing them then, and have never worn one since.......

Just cant see the point at all.

It's obviously all in the mind but I don't feel ready unless I've got my glove on. Definitely a habit and I might try it down the range tomorrow for a few balls just to see but have my doubts it'll last

Another vote here for ditching the glove.

I haven't worn one for about 5 or 6 years and was sick of having a white left hand all summer. No difference in normal conditions. I have a wet glove for the rain but it doesn't get used much as it seldom rains in this country.... not in my golfing world anyway.

Wait for the rain Mate......
You'll be glad of a glove when its belting down.....

But its each and everyone to there own.....I dont putt with one and for chips or any shots around 30yrds out i wont use one.....Iv better feel without...
But stand 200 yrds away from the green and i have to wear it....

I'm another who doesn't wear a glove. Ocassionaly I'll wear one during a hot afternoon, but as they are few and far between....

Just keep the grips clean and replace them as necessary and you've got no need for a glove.

Another "NO" vote for the gloves brigade, just a baseball gripping non-glove wearing hillbilly, that's me!

Occasionally wear a glove if I'm at the range or practice ground hitting 100+ balls just to help protect the hand.

Other than that, naked hands during the round - unless it's raining or cold when the finger tips go white then it's gloves on both hands.

Never could understand this one glove thing. Pretentious or what? :)

Got a glove for Xmas when i was a young lad. Three months later I went to buy another and found it cost more than a weeks paper round money!!!

Never worn one since

That was because of rationing and the Blitz! :D

Tried it last year. Gave up the experiment when I launched my 4i down the par 3 6th on the first warm day of the year. Back to glove wearing for the 7th.

I would love not to use one but I cant hit a good shot without it. I have been told that you can not grip the club as well without a glove and your will start to grip too hard.

Lost without mine, went to the range a few weeks back to pick up a club that had been re shafted, I did not have a glove with me and even with a brand new grip on it, it was nastly, the club kept slipping in my hand.

I am pro glove.

Stopped wearing a glove about 20 years ago, I get hot easily and during the summer I'd take it off between every shot to cool my hand down, then I saw that the pros didn't wear it to putt, so I'd take it off then, then figured if I didn't wear it to put I'd be better not wearing it to chip either, then chipping became short pitches, short pitches became long pitches, which became full wedge shots and eventually I just stopped wearing it altogether. Didn't help that I was forever losing them as well and I don't think I ever found one that was comfortable, so they were just more trouble than they were worth in the end.

I don't have any trouble in the rain and I don't think I grip particularly hard. If I don't play for a few months the calluses disappear but even then I never get blisters or anything when I start playing again.

I tried at the range with no glove and literally my hands started to burn after hitting about 40 balls. Glove for me, don't even bother taking it off to putt nowadays.
