Been playing so bad lately i was playing of 14 a couple of months ago, now 16. For some reason I developed a low hook and struggled to get my irons in the air and was on the verge I having a break from golf, as I didnt know what was wrong.
I realised my head was ahead of the ball at address and impact and was causing all sort of problem. I went up the range to day and kept head behind ball and hit the ball a lot better, the best in months. Has anyone else had faults in their game that nearly made them quit and didnt know what to do?

all the time  at least every 3 months anyway. I think it is because I am constantly working on my swing and never happy to settle and begin to get used to my misses or play within myself.

Great that you think you have solved the problem just be careful that you are not covering one mistake with another as a short term patch. This is where a good pro will prove invaluable.

Nearly walked off the course today. Lost two balls in the 1st three holes and another at the 7th. Girded my loins (apologies if you've just eaten and that image has turned your stomach) and played the last 11 holes in one under my handicap including two three putt greens.

I'm glad you finally found the answer. Keep at it and checking your head position at the range and I hope the handicap starts heading back in the right direction soon

Yup after being quite a good driver of the ball all of a sudden i went back to hitting big nast slices and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Tried changing my grip, slowing my swing down, trying to release the club more. Then after about 4 bad driving rounds a friend i was playing with said " the ball looks too far back in your stance" so moved it forward and hey presto i'm hitting good drives again.

Obviously i do still hit bad ones now and again but nowhere near as much and i feel confident again which i think is the main thing.

After a few months of playing terrible, played well today and shot 80 today and got a handicap cut of 0.9. Driving was a bit iffy but irons and short game were quite good and these were the two area,s which I was struggling with. Hopefully I can keep it up as going on golf holiday in june in Wales.

Not sure there is ever a fix. I've started hitting it well which has coincided with my mother being taken really ill and so golf going on the back burner for a while (including practicing). Bugger - just when a decent round was within touching distance. Looks like 14 for me then!
