Playing partner - a rant

Well, despite the lovely sunny blue sky, we only managed one hole before declaring it unplayable. Ball unable to stay on the green, 4 trolleys blew over 4 times each. Some of the elfin ladies (yes our weekly winter turn-up is a mixed occasion) having trouble staying up. Quick consultation with the other two fourballs and we all headed in. Seems crazy - even now looking out the window it looks lovely. Shame but there will be another day.

Been on the range down the club this morning, is VERY windy in the Middleton / Rochadale area

You big Jessie :ears:

Was howling this morning but went out and played 18. Played pretty well in the farcical circumstances!! Was fun with the wind behind, drove the green on our 4th

Not quite so much fun into the wind right enough!!!

Bad luck on missing out on your game.

Two of our 4 were only playing 9 today and we soldiered on till the 13th but then gave it away, pretty brutal out there but happy to hit some good shots in the wind and knock it round 2 over when we packed in.

Arranged during the week to Play with a mate this morning.

Halfway there I get a text saying its s bit too windy.....

It's only 29 knots!

And it's dry currently (and forecast to stay that way till 1ish)

Honestly.

Not HP

Feel for ya buddy, played today, wet and windy first thing but then just windy. Was happy just to get out and play as course was closed last week.

 nothing like bringing a little bit of sunshine, eh?

I'm confused by this talk of ironing gear and 'other prep work'. Do you not get changed in the car en route and have your fingers crossed that your clubs are still in the boot from last time, or am I the only one?

Yip.....that's me!!!!

I certainly don't mind the wind. Don't mind the rain. But both together. Gets right up my back. Trying to hold a brolly in the wind and rain is just not enjoyable.

re partner not turning up like that. Would wind me up to high heaven. Nothing changed from Friday to Saturday re weather forecast so why leave it so late.

Rain. wind 25mph..3 holes closed, 11 temp greens..carry bags only, no trolleys allowed.what would you do? I.stayed at home..Had nothing arranged so didn't let anyone down..

I would hate to have a round with someone who did not want to be there, better they are honest than lie to me or trudge round unhappy.

We only get one weekend a week so I understand why they cancelled, I would never judge someone on that.

If it was the middle of summer, good weather and they were just plain lazy it would be another matter!

I played 14 holes on my own in between snow showers. Don't blame the others for calling off, it was a blizzard 5 mins before I went out....

Really enjoyed it though, and have played in much worse. New swing starting to come together, all good!

I'd have been quite happy if my round had been called off today. My form of late isn't good enough to contend with pooring rain and 40mph winds. I would however never use wind and rain as an excuse not to get out on the course, no matter how bad I am playing
