I know it is the first comp and all that but in my humble opinion you need to be speaking to the comp secretary or club secretary about this guy. Blatant rule breaking is cheating. Nothing else and he needs pulling up
I hear what you are saying and I agree to an extent, although to what end? He was never close to getting anywhere near winning the comp. He just seemed really nervous about all the rules, and I tried to educate where I could, but by the 17th when he was marking his ball and cleaning it and placing when in the 1st cut of the rough I just couldn't be bothered anymore. I'd already told him twice what the rules were for preferred lies. By that point reporting him or pulling him up just didn't feel right... difficult to explain what I mean
