So turned up at the Club to see it covered in fog and visibility down to about 150yds, 4 man team Comp, 3/4 handicap, 2 scores to count.
Handicap 14, get 11 strokes, played to 8, lowest round ever, over the moon, didn't see the flight on any shots until the fog lifted on the 16th, simply played (or tried) steady shots aiming for the middle of fairway, shots to the green, ignored flag, again went for centre of green,
Hoping for Fog all next season!

I refuse to play in fog. It's dangerous & removes most of the pleasure which, for me, is watching my drive fly, straight & true, for 300 yards (well OK, only 220 sometimes). Don't know how you managed to play so well, but good on you. Perhaps you should play blind fold in future, may do even better.

I went out just before 8, it was foggy but you could see the first green. As we went on it got worse and worse until the hooter went as we got to the 16th tee. I was 8 over at the time and as we were a two ball with an empty course in front of us it had only taken us 2hrs 15 mins to play 15 holes. It was a shame to have to walk in but that's life I suppose.

Definitely bordering on dodgy today. Walked forward on several holes... shot 19pts on the front 9, inc. a blob and a 1pt. Fog lifted and I shot 17pts on the back 9. I'm going to rub vaseline on my glasses tomorrow and wear them all the way round.

Was down earlier and clear distance was changing all the time but clear enough to play but went to the range anyway. Just passed the local amateur football and you can't see one crossbar from the other.

We're not allowed to play in the fog course is closed and play forbidden unless full view of shot distance is possible.

I don't know what our distance for Safe play is (you have to be able to see a certain bunker from the Pro Shop, but it's more than 150 yards.

I played in fog in Oregon (thankfully our PP had a caddy to point us in the right direction) and afterwards the people playing behind us siad they hadn't a clue where to go, so just followed my bright pink jacket which they could see faintly glowing in the distance

I will give you three doubles to finish with Mike.:)

Fog can be a problem at Blackmoor, and you have to be able to see the first green to play. 15 minutes up the road in Frensham, and it was lovely and clear.

Sorry but that is very dangerous playing with visibility only at 150 yards

Lack of common sense and responsibility to fellow golfers and any green staff on the course

I have this vision of there being bodies all over the course from where you thought you were the first out but really you have taken them all out with your drives!

Played this morning and it definitely got worse before it got better. I really didn't think we should have been playing but everyone else seemed quite casual about it

At my current club we are not allowed to play in fog for reasons of 'Ealth 'n Safety. They sound a hooter to suspend play if fog rolls in. At my previous pay and play course we continued playing in fog, but shouted back to the following group when we were out of range or clear of the green. :mmm:

Played the medal today, sadly but on the 17th the course was closed. Could only see 150 yards so fair enough but is annoying when on for a net 70 and one of my pp was on for a 67....

wasn't that bad the other side of town, only the first was bit foggy, couldn't use the range finder. but after that a nice morning.

started to come back in once we finished, we prob had the best part of the day.

first time on the winter course and the 280 yard par 3 was a killer.. mad par though, driver and SW

Our Presidents was played in heavy fog this year, we started at 9.15 am could not see the par 3 3rd green off the tee (190 odd to the middle)very dangerous , a guy who was on the 10 th when we starting won the comp with 49pts

I hit my ball off the first today at 8.11am.

Very light mist is the best way I'd describe it. Clear enough to see the length of the hole and gteen, but a little hazy.

About 2 weeks ago the fog came down during a round. We stood on the 9th tee not being able to see the fairway we were hitting into.

We walked in from there and called it a day.

Hitting blindly into an area where you can't see the ball land is irresponsible at best.
