Have recently joined my first 18 hole course and have taken part in a couple of recent competitions.
My handicap index at the time of the first, a stableford comp, was 29 which gives me a CH of 31 for the tees in use.
In comps there is an upper limit on the CH of 28 which is equivalent to a 26.2 handicap index.
At 95% of the 28 upper limit I received 27 shots (26.6 rounded up).
The score I submitted for this round cut my HI to 28.7.
In today's competition, medal format off the same tees I only received 26 shots at the 95% adjusted level.
This has left me confused as even though my HI has reduced by 0.2 it is still above the 26.2 HI that equates to a maximum 28 CH.
Does anyone have an explanation please?
BTW - Whether I got 26 or 27 shots today makes no difference to where I finished so there is no potential gain for me but I'm just at a loss to make sense of it.
Thanks
