Plans for 2022

Decided to become a fair weather nomadic golfer so looking forward to playing some new courses once the sun comes back out.
Got myself a new bike so going to be getting the miles in with a view to entering some vets events possibly later this year.
Concert wise the kids got me a ticket for War of the Worlds at th O2 which I'm massively excited for, and I'm taking my daughter to see Jack Savoretti in april which will be her first proper gig so really looking forward to that
Anytime you're up the M3 and fancy a game I'm happy to have a knock. May even chuck lunch in

Thanks I would love to if the dates work, although I will be playing there regardless in the Lancs Ladies championship which is being held there in 2022/
I thought Birkdale only gave Captains courtesy if they were playing with 3 people who were paying green fees
Aaaah..... I guess I have a lot of things yet to discover about these courtesies though mainly looking forward to the EG Captains Events. We have Cleveland & Sandmoor this side of the hill in 2022. May see you there.. Happy New Year & all the best.

A few things booked in Marbella in March, Nerja in June for a family wedding and hopefully a couple of rounds if there any courses that way out. Fingers crossed there will be 2 weeks somewhere at end of August too just hoping we get a year without as much interruption

We has a few nice things in mind…unfortunately my BiLs serious illness and chronic condition diagnosed on Christmas Eve has thrown one gigantic spanner into the works and we now have no idea whatsoever what the year holds for us…?.

Somehow, and without being cruel or sounding heartless, my wife has to make it clear to my 91yr old MiL and her BiL that whilst we can and will provide ad hoc support, we - especially my wife, cannot be expected to be their carers. They live in N Derbyshire, we are in Surrey - it’s not as if we are just round the corner. And with my Mrs‘ BC in remission she too has a life to live, not knowing quite what is around the next corner. Plus my wife has significant long term family relationship issues with both that make her situation much, much harder - things I can’t go into that are very difficult or painful for her.

For more than 3yrs we have been trying with no success whatsoever to get them to engage together to sort out what they want for themselves for the future, and on whether or not he is willing to become her carer (he has been living at the family home with his mum for that time). With his illness that ship now seems to have sailed for good, and we have been handed the situation to resolve…nightmare…she is lost as to what to do.

I can see me spending a lot of time in Chesterfield this year…looking for upsides, I may see if I can get a country membership at Chesterfield (Walton) Golf Club - nice club and track.

Golf plans? Lads trip I'm looking at cockermouth as a base. Also there's a three day thing at Magdalene Fields I would like to go to if it's on this year. Pike Fold will have to be played, great course. Would love another go at Abbeydale and Sickleholme again. I'm easily pleased.

I am unsure about courtesies but someone told me about Birkdale.

I am looking at Sandmoor for Seniors or Captains

well 2022 started as 2021 finished.. Ie I worked last night and back in today lol

as for plans the new batman film is out around my bday.. my last 2 were in lockdowns so I will be trying to get some family over (got until march for the numbers to drop off hopefully)

also haven't seen my best mate since july 2019.. she lives 150 miles away these days and lockdowns get in the way... she hasnt met the twins (in person.. video calls tho) and I havent met her daughter (couple months older than the twins) so we decided we have to try and meet up this year..

lodge holiday down the east sussex coast in the summer with my girls and the inlaws

actually have an overnight golf trip planned to princess .. so that will be nice

must get down to kent to see my aunt and uncle aswell.. in their 80s now.. havent seen them since covid for obvious reasons .. they were due up december but the numbers meant they wanted to not risk it.. fair enough.. just feels like covid is robbing time with them.. we dont know how long they have left.. my uncle got me into golf and he already doesnt know who my wife is (when we last saw him he thought she was my sister... awkward)

2022 defo has a lot of promise hopefully

I really want to go skiing again, got cancelled 24 hours before departure in 2019, never on the radar last winter and have a date in mind for March but can't see it happening.

Two night stay at Glencoe booked for next week, fingers crossed it still goes ahead and if it does me and the little boy WILL be sledging
I’m booked to go 1st week of March, delayed from last year, fingers crossed it happens as all bought all new gear for the 2019 trip and need to get some value out of it!

We’ve also got Turkey in May, that’s been cancelled twice already, could do with some sun.

I've got tickets for the Classic Rock Show next week (Covid pending) but other than that my diary is bereft of entries which suits me down to the ground at this point in time.

Plan to sort a new kitchen, conservatory refresh and new decking and stick the house up for sale. Not sure how that will go as I’m very much “I’ll sort it tomorrow” man.
No abroad holidays planned again as too much extra faff. Center parcs and lodges with hot tubs booked throughout the year.

Yeah... hoping for both for me & the same at Cleveland & possibly Envers, though I think the latter will be well over subscribed.
I see Captains also have a couple more this way.... singles at Headingley (quality N Leeds track) & a Pairs at Fulford (scene of Langers tree-shot 40 years ago) play it if you can.

Whilst my home County has an abundance of wild fell sides to roam, other than Cross Fell, few will be visited by other than 'Peak-baggers'. Both Mickle & Burnhope Seat are very much in that category. Few folk would know about the former as being the highest in both Yorkshire & Durham (has been in both of course) so is always a great conversation piece as well as a very wet & boggy place.
I understand that Burnhope Seat is the highest point in historic county Durham. I'll aim for that one as I know that Mickle Fell might be closed because of firing.
As for Yorkshire I'll try for the highest points in the 4 counties rather than the 3 Ridings.
As for Cheshire it used to be the case that Black Hill was the highest until the borders changed. Cheshire is now Shining Tor and Black Hill is West Yorkshire.

Has anyone on here summited Mickle??
It's nearly 14 years since I completed all the Nuttalls (440 two thousand footers) in England and Wales to become a completer.
Is Mickle Hill on Warcop Fell the one with the locked gate and firing range? I remember going up it but can't remember much about it.

If you decide to stay up overnight then I'd suggest a visit to High-cup Nick from Dufton. Not a 'Top' but certainly one of the best day-walks in that area.
I have also been there. It's on the Pennine Way, but again my memory is a bit blurred so I'd like to go there again.

I've done 3 county tops already for 2022.
Ebrington Hill from Ilmington, Warwickshire. Score 8/10.
Worcestershire Beacon from Malvern. Score 10/10.
Arbury Hill from Badby, Northamptonshire. Score 4/10.

Did have Mexico booked for May but the missed listened to good sense and we’ve moved it to May 23 for the honeymoon -

22 is all about pre op prep for an ACL rebuild.

That would be Little Fell that you're thinking of.... deep in the Firing-range. I think we did it on a Boxing Day some 15 years ago...... memorable only 'cos you had to watch where you walked as there was lots of debris that you certainly didn't touch.
There were a few other memorable days as we were doing them all in winter with very short daylight hours & often diabolical weather conditions (as we were from diverse locations, we simply fixed a date & went out whatever) & difficult map reading as it was all pre the wide use of GPS, though that would have done little help on the occasion in Swaledale when prodigious flooding caused dry-stone walls to be washed across the roads & one of the guys, with his son, had to stay the night as he wrecked his car having hit a flooded part at too great a speed & got water in the cylinders. I never completed the Nuttalls as I wasn't that bothered but several of the team did.
Good luck to you on your County Tops project.

Finally going to get this divorce over the line. 3 years after separating……

Been pretty bloody horrific tbh.

Need the monkey off my shoulders and having to use the courts to help my case.

Interesting feedback. Thank you.
I see that some summits in the Warcop Firing Range are now optional.
Completers (nuttalls.com)
Quite a lot of Steve's in there and I'm somewhere near the middle.
