Plans for 2022

If you mean the landscaped site of Silverdale Colliery, where else do you suggest please.
Depends what you're looking for, if not altitude. Just the thought of being that close to Sutton-in-Ashfield makes me want to smoke spice and drink a bottle of White Lightning.

If you get in I hope the weather is better than this year!

To be fair, pro-am day on the Tuesday wasn't too bad until late afternoon but the pro event on the Wednesday and Thursday was grim. Very interesting to see a lot of very good players playing a short course and struggling. Whether I play or not I'll still be there. Great event

Looking forward to Spring and Summer and (hopefully) lots of things growing in my allotment. Having never grown anything my excitement at seeing the winter broad beans and peas come through is off the scale. I even enjoy the weeding (once the super heavy initial work is done) and talk to my little plants as I save them from the dreaded weeds trying to strangulate them!

Otherwise - lots of cycling I hope. It can depend on the weather but hoping to be a bit more committed in 2022 (and fitter).

Got Mexico booked for May 21, was really looking forward to it until we got a quote for travel insurance! ??

My 21 plans are flat out pre op work on the bike and gym, fingers crossed to be getting the knee done in October.

? travel insurance is tipping me over the edge. Claiming for me parents cancelled cruise due to her having gallstones.

I really want to go skiing again, got cancelled 24 hours before departure in 2019, never on the radar last winter and have a date in mind for March but can't see it happening.

Two night stay at Glencoe booked for next week, fingers crossed it still goes ahead and if it does me and the little boy WILL be sledging

Doesn't seem much point in making plans these days. I do have a gig in January (Idles) if that goes ahead, and one in April (Mclusky). Also have a gig booked with my own band in March since our Christmas one was cancelled.

I'm sure the wife will make me go on holiday somewhere whenever we're allowed (I'm not a huge fan of holidays, and yes I know that's weird, but we've not had one for over two years now). Hopefully will arrange a golf weekend with the lads that we've been talking about doing for a long time. Also hoping to attend the next H4H forum meet as I really enjoyed my first one this year. ??

Hopefully we'll finally get back garden redone, that was going to be early this year but we ended up putting it off.

I would not bother with Bardon Hill in Leicestershire unless you are really interested in quarries.
Go to the very nearby Beacon Hill instead. Use the lower car park which is the other side of the road from the clubhouse of Charnwood Forest Golf Club.
Super long-range views from the top.

Similarly in Dorset. Pilsdon Pen and Lewesdon Hill are next door to each other. You can easily do both in one day and the views from Pilsdon Pen are much better.

Looking south to the sea from Pilsdon Pen, October 2021.

Move somewhere with less rainfall!!

I've been awake since 5am, woken up by the rain banging against the window. Gone downstairs for tea and toast.

Very little chance of golf in the next few days..... grrr

Let me know if you find somewhere, seems we've moved to wet and mild winters now.

Been married 25 years in 2022, finally got round to booking a honeymoon. A trip to Mauritius ….. with 7 rounds of golf on Île aux cerfs included ?

Also planning a roll over trip from last year to Lofoten Links.

All Covid dependent of course.

I believe we have a forum member in Mauritius.

I will need to go up Bardon Hill for completion, and yes I know it's not as good as Beacon Hill so I'll do both.
At least it has good views from the top on a clear day but the walk up is dull.
The view of the Charnwood Forest ridge is quite beautiful in the setting sun when seen from the east.

That's good to know, thanks.

My aim was to revisit every English county in 2022 then the thought occurred to me I would at least have to visit every county top.

Other hills I might attempt some of are the Marilyns. These are relative hills which have at least a 500 feet drop all around until the col is reached before the next one.
Some of them don't even feel like hills at all, like Hegdon Hill in Herefordshire.
As far as I know nobody has ever done all of them in the whole of Great Britain.

It must be an age thing, but my aspirations for next year don't go much further than continuing to be fit enough to golf and still being here on the 31st December to welcome in 2023. :)

All the best to everyone for the New Year and may it bring you happiness and all that you aspire to.
Yes me to.
Still trying for a major in my 60s.
There are worst places to be and we should count ourselves lucky to be able to play golf.
Happy new year everyone.

:) Er, shouldn't this topic be in OOB? :)

And I'll add, for me, to stop letting the worlds problems get to me and realise THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT! OK CF? Now go and get the shopping done and get ready for the Karaoke party you are hosting at the pub tonight.

Hope everyone has a great night tonight and makes it to 2022.
