Plans for 2022

Moving to a new house mid January, closer to the golf course, so hopefully more golf and the farm is sold by then too. A week's golf in Turkey late March with the lads and God willing a chance to meet our two new Grandsons who are in Western Canada. Fingers crossed!

Retiring from refereeing and county handicap advising and as a result hoping to actually play more golf and rather like Colin, seeing a few more Jools' Annual Hootenanny.

Happy New Year.
I don’t know you, but I will thank you for all the time and effort that you’ve put into our sport. Enjoy the additional golf.

Got a 4 ball voucher for Cruden Bay from tuggles99 which was a bargain ? and going to play Cullen and Newmacher also.

Holiday booked for Port Merrion next summer always wanted to visit where ‘The Prisoner’ was filmed.

Plus will be going south to have a golf break to play golf with brothers and hopefully get a few opens in.

Next year will be better. ?

As far as I know nobody has ever done all of them in the whole of Great Britain.

It’s been done already, I remember seeing something about it on the uk hillwalking website. It would be a very small group of baggers to be in though!

I’m getting my daughter into hill bagging and she’s up to 9 Munros. Not bad for a 9 y/o And would have been a lot more this year had it not been for all the travel restrictions at the start. 2022 will hopefully add another bunch to our list.

I heard that someone was trying to finish them off at a sea stack in St Kilda. Took her 44 years.
She makes it look so easy.
To think I had enough trouble trying to find the summit of View Edge in Shropshire.
That took me 2 attempts.

All things being well, I'm hoping to walk up all the county tops in England.
Some are very familiar, others less so or not at all.

Very familiar include Ebrington Hill the highest point in Warwickshire, Worcestershire Beacon at Malvern, Brown Clee Hill in Shropshire, Kinder Scout in Derbyshire.
There seem to be about 50 to climb and I might extend it into Wales.
Sounds like a waste of good time but I find hill bagging to be the best activity of all.

County Tops of England including maps and routes to download (walkingenglishman.com)

In this age of foreign travel restrictions I can't think of anything better. No passports, permits or visas are required.
Whilst my home County has an abundance of wild fell sides to roam, other than Cross Fell, few will be visited by other than 'Peak-baggers'. Both Mickle & Burnhope Seat are very much in that category. Few folk would know about the former as being the highest in both Yorkshire & Durham (has been in both of course) so is always a great conversation piece as well as a very wet & boggy place.
When we 'pirated' it some 15 years ago, doing the English 2k tops, we had no permit but had rung the base to establish that there was no planned Range use. As a shooting moor it makes no provision for walkers & has many very wide drainage ditches that are difficult to cross/circumvent. THIS, is a wild place!! We met only military guys with very big packs & tight time shedules.
However, on completion, you will certainly have bagged a top that few others will have stood on & will be well aware of why that is the case.
Has anyone on here summited Mickle??
If you decide to stay up overnight then I'd suggest a visit to High-cup Nick from Dufton. Not a 'Top' but certainly one of the best day-walks in that area.

Wow... all the Marilyns... now that is an anoraks list, though I really enjoyed the footage of Stac Lee..... there was twice a much swell running when we sailed by in the '80s. Defo one of the most memorable locations in the World...... rather like Mickle Fell, visited by very few folk but way, way more memorable.

Golfing plans include a trip down to South Wales to play Pennard and Tenby in the spring, then 3 days in St Andrews in the early summer.
Cycling, I'm looking to spend as much time as possible in Scotland on touring/backpacking trips (very weather dependent).
If things settle down a bit, I'd like to get a week skiing in, but this'll definitely be on a last minute basis.
Of all three, I think that it's the cycling I'm most looking forward to.

As an aside, I think it's a bit of a shame to come at High Cup from Dufton. I still remember the "reveal" when I approached it from Teesdale in the middle of a short but violent hailstorm - I was amazed. I didn't really know that it was coming (I was walking the Pennine Way, so just taking everything as it came, rather than planning/researching in advance).

Nor me..... but he's certainly given a lot of help on here to many people & I've certainly enjoyed much of it. As I think he may be fairly local I hope I may be able to thank him personally if I can tempt him to one of my Captains Events next year with a chance to also meet other Forum Members..... nothing, Meet-wise, has happened in this part of Eng for some time. Perhaps MarkT may also join us....... watch this space!!!

I don’t really do planning, as I like to see where life takes me.

But, next year hopefully we’ll get to go to the BiLs wedding in Greece.

We need to finish redecorating the house and there is a lot of work to do in the garden.

There may be an interesting new job opportunity early in the year.

Golf wise. Just playing as much as possible, getting my lad his first HI and to the point he is confident of going out on his own with the other juniors. I want to be back shooting in the mid 70s more often than not. I need to pick up some distance to make this easier round my course.

The only real target I want to achieve is shooting a level par round.

Decided to become a fair weather nomadic golfer so looking forward to playing some new courses once the sun comes back out.
Got myself a new bike so going to be getting the miles in with a view to entering some vets events possibly later this year.
Concert wise the kids got me a ticket for War of the Worlds at th O2 which I'm massively excited for, and I'm taking my daughter to see Jack Savoretti in april which will be her first proper gig so really looking forward to that

It is a big year for me, Lady Captain and turning soixante-dix, apart from those looking forward to finally playing at Birkdale for the first time, I hope I keep my health and may i wish everyone else a good year and good health
If it works for you Louise I'd love to join you on My Captain's courtesy, at Birkdale as we were drowned rats after 11 holes the last time, some years ago. All the best!!

Thanks I would love to if the dates work, although I will be playing there regardless in the Lancs Ladies championship which is being held there in 2022/
I thought Birkdale only gave Captains courtesy if they were playing with 3 people who were paying green fees
