Any thoughts on which is best? I tried a Odessey Black recently abd was impressed but not that much. I like the black satin of the redwood.

You cannot go wrong with either in my opinion Ping have always made great putters and Redwoods are the best they do.
I have a Scotty that has been in the bag for 11 years now and I will not change it, I have even bought two more of the same model that are kept in seperate locations, just in case the worst happens.

I personally think scotty camerons are better than the ping redwoods.
The reason for this is i had a ping redwood a year or so ago and did not like it as much as my scotty just because i thought the scotty had a better feel when the ball left the face.
However i think that putting is very much a personal thing and you should stick to what works best for you and not worry so much about the brand.

Thanks for the replies. The problem with the Scotty for me is the bewildering range of models and where/how do you choose which is best for you?

As a staunch Ping putter man, I say go for a Ping, where the heck would Scotty Cameron be without Ping designs to copy...nowhere that's where.If you want a Scotty original design get a Futura, the ugliest son of a bitch ever designed.If you want the BEST putters Ping have ever produced try and get a JAS model, original selling price £250+.Titanium beauties, much better than the redwoods.IMO.

Great feel off the face and the look down is perfect,the redwoods look good but scotty seems to make putters what sit perfect
Plus in 5 years or so you could always sell it and not lose out,Studio Stainless putters like mine which are from 05 approx still sell for over 100 on ebay

I prefer Scotty Camerons over Ping putters in the market place now, yes Ping made some great putters but not anymore.

ping iwi & most recent range just doesnt cut the mustard imho, whereas the Scotty wins hands down with their recent range.

I regard putting as the most important part of the game, but I just don’t get the Scotty thing. I’ve tried a few and I just cant get any real feedback from them. Used a couple of pings in the past but my Yes Valerie has given me more sub 30 putt rounds than any other putter I’ve ever used.

Ping innovate, everything they do in putters is for a specific reason, people may not approve of the look of certain putters but there is never any denying the effectiveness of the designs, look at the Craz-E line dodgy looks but great putters all the same and they get the ball in the hole. Ping innovate others follow or if they cannot be bothered copy.

I suppose I don't really need to comment on which I would recommend, although don't get me wrong, I do like Scotty's... a lot... but my Redwood Anser is the putter for me.

I keep looking at Pings, but compared to my Scotty, the balance is wrong, the swing weight is wrong, they feel like a childs toy in comparison, the machining is not as good, they are not as pleasant on the eye.
Yes, Scotty has borrowed designs from Ping (as have every one), but they are not a chinese copy, they are refined, and better than the original.
Ping peaked with the BeCu B60. Evereything since then has been down hill, and the Redwood range was brought out specifically to take on Scotty, who had established a market for premium putters. A market Ping were not in. Copying anyone?

A beautiful looking putter but don't know how it would perform.

You could take 100 golfers and I guarantee they would be fairly split on a decision.
Putting is very individual, just keep trying until you find THE one.
I had a Scotty for a short time until someone trousered it.
I also have a ping BC pal6 that is about 25years old and is a superb putter.
Each to their own and sometimes what works on slow greens doesn't work on fast ones
