So I bought my new Ping G430s a few months back and I love them. However there is a “ gap” between my lofts from 45-54 degrees. I am after a 50 degree wedge. Anyway I took my three clubs into the club shop today and showed them. They mentioned they needed to see the serial numbers. Which are fine. But what is the reason for that? To try and get the matching serial numbers. Check they are legit. Thoughts please.

The serial numbers will match up to the spec of the club so they can just order without having to measure you up....
I just showed them the blue dot and said “ same please” 😖

I had been looking on the internet and was happy to buy second hand. But they are like hens teeth and looked grubby and not cheap. I saw them on American golf for £129 and thought there only £10 cheaper second hand. It just seemed common sense to call into club shop and use vouchers to part pay.

Will want the serial number, so when they order an additional club for you, ping will etch the same serial number on the new wedge, as the rest of your set.

This has certainly been the case in the past.
But also match the exact spec, loft, lie, swingweight etc

When I snapped the shaft on my Ping five iron a few years back (caught a tree on a follow through), our pro sent it back to Ping who knew the specs from the serial number and they replaced the shaft without charge. It was from a set I got for free from a fitting through the forum, so that may explain why no charge.

I had the same issue, I purchased a 50 degree glide and also a 56 degree sand wedge.
My G430s are blue dot but I think they are 2 degrees weak (maybe retro ?) and 1/2” longer ( might be due to me having short arms … not sure though as they go in my pockets).
So given I have told you a multitude of customisations the serial number is key.
I recently started to investigate changing out the 45 degree wedge .. but since I know nothing really about it I have just got on with it.
