Ping i15 UW

They are available next month and some have them on order now, just put i15 UW into google and you will find all the answers you need

Mate of mine (8 H/C and better) has got the I15's with the Tour wedges. He still can't believe the spin he gets with these wedges. Loves them to bits but still can't bring himself to pitch the ball enough past the pin to allow for the spin.

Another £2 off him this morning :D :D

Can't see why an i15 UW would be any better than a Tour-W wedge. Cost would be about the same and the Tour-W looks better and will probably do a better job.
A pointless club in my opinon.

Why is it pointless to have a matching gap wedge the same as the rest of your irons? Thats a bit like saying its pointless making a matching 3+5 wood to go with a driver!!! :D

Err

No it isn't

If you're good enough to use the i15's then you'll be able to use the Tour-W. As I said, you'll get better results from a specialist wedge and it will be more versatile rather than an 11 iron, which is what the i15UW is going to be.

I'm going to guess that most i15 players have specialist wedges in the bag - why take a backward step to an 11 iron?

Its exactly the same.

Some people like to keep uniformity throughout their bag so that's why they have a gap wedge option to keep the feel and look the exact same throughout the set.

The Tour W is a totally different look and feel.

As I say its like having a great driver but not the same 3 wood because Callaway or Titleist make another that does the same job!.

But they don't do SW or LW in i15 and they arn't going to so uniformity ends.

I can't see why a better player would want to sacrifice the extra feel of the Tour-W just to match another club to his irons. If he needs 1 or 2 other wedges does it not make sense to match the wedges rather than have an 11 iron? If he only has 1 extra wedge then he's going have a diferent one anyway - makes sense to match them.

The Tour W is also cast, not forged, so I doubt there will be any difference in feel.

Clearly not a useless club or addition by Ping, I would also gather there has been a huge demand or it wouldn't have been added to the range.

I'd always favour the specialist wedge route and ditched the SW in my G10 set to have 3 x Tour-W (50/54/58). Great clubs but still struggling with them around the greens tbh as they are so different to the Clevelands they replaced. Will be OK when I can eventually get some proper practice and the ground firms up a bit I hope.

I always prefer my wedges to match my other irons.
If Ping had made a gap wedge available in the i15 range I would have bought it no question.
I'm finding the tour-w wedges a little more tricky than my Mizzie MX200 wedges, but the wet ground isn't helping at the moment to be honest.
