With that ball speed I’d have thought the spin was far too low but I suppose the 18 launch angle is saving it. Not sure how sustainable that would be though.

It’s something that’s always put me off ping driversI cant stand the look of them.![]()

This is something which I am now over thinking.. with the back weight, I was told on a Titleist TSi3 that you put the weight where you strike the ball to give it more mass behind the ball, but on other clubs its said to put the weight in the toe or heel for shot bias. I am a fader, so I put my weight in the heel for a draw bias, as you said, it doesn't magically start making my shots into draws, but it evens up slight fades to straight shots. i havnt thought about this for a while, as my old driver didn't have moveable weights, but it was a HD driver, so I never knew how much weight is in the heel already.I've used SFT Ping drivers for years, and they won't turn a slice into a draw or anything drastic, but I've definitely seen them turn a 50 yard slice into a 20 yard manageable fade. And also if you strike it on the heel, the extra weight there makes it a bit more of a solid strike.
I'm always really surprised by how much weight people put on the look of a golf club. If it is the best performing club that is available to you, then who cares how it looks?
If you gave me a driver that goes straight and long, you could put that photo on the crown of Prince Andrew in the back of the car and I would still use it.
I’m always surprised people don’t care what things look like when they first pick them up. Initial attraction to something shiny is why I look at something before I look into specs. If it’s ugly I don’t care how good it’s supposed to be I’m not hitting it, driving it , buying it etc.I'm always really surprised by how much weight people put on the look of a golf club. I think we’re indeed spirits it matters to me as well. I also have my kit picked and all laid out and ironed days ahead. Colour coordinated and freshly preppedFrom clubhead to shaft, to grip it makes a difference for ME.
Obviously, it has to perform.
I'm playing in Surrey on Friday and then 4 hours plus back to play my home course at 7.30am the next day. Spent the morning preparing clothing for each day, all now ironed and ready.
Some people care, some think Ping look good![]()
My wife used to laugh at me whilst I was still in the RAF. She pointed out the I always got my golf gear ready the night before and had it hung on the back of the door but never did this for work. I countered that I always knew what I was wearing each day for workI think we’re indeed spirits it matters to me as well. I also have my kit picked and all laid out and ironed days ahead. Mine says the same thing and that I take more care over my golf clothes and appearance on the course in general rather than the 2 mins I spend on getting ready for work. I alway answer with “My wife used to laugh at me whilst I was still in the RAF. Really? I mean what if a miracle driver was released at a good price, and suddenly everyone was using it, but it happened to look awful? You wouldn't even consider it?I’m always surprised people don’t care what things look like when they first pick them up. Nope wouldn’t consider it at all. I don’t care who else is using something, I’m not a sheep I make my own decisions based on my own criteria. If I can’t stand the look of something there isn’t a single thing that’s going to make me want to hit it.Really? I'm not talking about following sheep, but just making the point that if it is working for a lot of people, it may well work for you.Nope wouldn’t consider it at all. I also wouldn’t touch a carbon faced driver no matter what it looks like , I don’t trust them I’ve see to much go wrong with them. So as current drivers go I know I’m limiting my options. But trust begins with wanting to use something And feeling confident it how it looks is the start of that for me.
That’s my point though I’m not going to follow just because it works for others especially if I can’t stand the look of it, because I know it won’t work for me because I won’t want or waste money on something I can’t stand the look of because confidence for me as Imurg also stated starts with how it looks behind the ball. If I don’t like the look behind the ball I know I won’t commit to hitting it so zero confidence is gained.I'm not talking about following sheep, but just making the point that if it is working for a lot of people, it may well work for you.
I also wouldn't be interested in the carbon drivers, as there are a lot of bad stories out there. But that hasn't got anything to do with looks and is about reliability.
Interested to know how you get on with it. My last three drivers have been Taylormade and my M2 is getting on a bit. Undecided whether to stay with them or switch to PingHas anyone demoed or purchased the Ping G440 K driver yet?
Was planning on getting a Ping G440 once it gets discounted at the end of the year but now thinking the K model might be the better option
Have used a friends G440 and have enjoyed it but not sure the K is worth the extra cash
Currently using a Callaway XR16 which is now 10 years old so I am thinking an upgrade is due soon
Just looking for opinions from anyone who has got one
I’d rather have a club I like the look of and want to hit but be 10yards behind everyone else.
