Ping G440 K Driver

I'd imagine the smaller head size means the benefit was minimal. As much as anything, it's a way to make their drivers recognisable even from the top-down address position I guess.

My mate still uses a G425 driver and I don't really notice the sound being any worse or different to other drivers. I have a G425 3 wood, and I love the sound that makes. Maybe I'm deaf.

A G425 sounds like an empty tin of paint slapped onto the end of a golf shaft. Absolutely horrific sound 😱

The g425 fairways and hybrids were great, no issues.
The driver though was ear piercing. Kraxx68 stu had a g425 sft for couple seasons, the noise, everybody commented

That'd be me too
It went well
Sound and feel terrible
Couldn't tell if it was middle or high toe
Awful sounding driver, lasted 2 months with me
Could hear them 2 fairways away😂
I was just wondering whether I should get mine out of the garage and give it a whirl again.... however, you may have just reminded me why it's been in the garage for the last couple of years.
That said... I do remember it had a lovely, boring flight and rolled out loads.
Decisions decisions! :)

They may/must have found some marginal benefit. A major selling point when they first appeared on the G30.

I wonder why they took them off their fairways and hybrids?

Edit…
They were brought in as the claim was that they increased club head speed. I’ve never thought that and I don’t think I have seen any reviews that they did improve speed.

I believe there are two reasons for the turbulators:

Firstly, they are designed to keep the club head “stable” when it is swung. Smooth surfaces tend to start “fluttering,” which can result in the moment of impact becoming unpredictably inaccurate, so this is primarily for aerodynamic reasons. The fact that Ping no longer uses them on smaller club heads suggests that the effect was still measurable but no longer noticeable to the player.

Secondly, the turbulators IMVHO are a nice “aiming aid.” 😉

I have a G440 Max driver, got it half way thru last year. It's an absolute monster, LOVE it!!
I got one last week and for the first time ina long time I feel as if I have a keeper.

It's the wrong time of the year to tell how it stacks up in terms of distance, but it appears to get out there. More importantly, so far it has been a fairway finder and if in the long run I had to give up a few yard while hitting more fairways I'd take that.

Oh, and I acgtually like the turbulators they frame the ball nicely for me.
