There was a Ping Demo day down at the driving range this afternoon so I thought I'd trundle down and check out the G20 range having heard so many great things about them.
I only got the chance to try the irons and compare them against my G2s. First up, the Fitter (smashing fella) checked my grips and the dot on my G2s to make sure they were fine - they were. Then it was head to head - G20s v G2s.
The result.
The G20s go 6 yards further per club than my G2s.
That's right.
A whole 6 yards.
Mind you, they are 1 degree stronger lofts so that probably makes them a whole yard or two longer overall.
That was with virtually identical spin and launch angles and no real difference in dispersion either.
The lure of shiny new kit had been very strong up to that point. Not any more. I'll be sticking with my G2s a while yet, methinks.
