I currently have a set of ping G20 irons which i bought off the shelf after testing them out. Can anybody tell me the best way to go about getting them custom fitted? Ive looked online but i cant make sense of it! Any advice would be very welcome :-)

i think, if you go to their site in Gainsborough, you have to be put forward by the retail outlet you got them from, not 100% though,

Your pro should be able to give you a check off and check lie length grip size etc.

Unusual to get ping off the shelf as they normal come with free fitting.

Go to your local stockist and get fitted, you may well end up black spot regular.
Once you know your requirements send the irons back to ping who will do a free alteration of the lie for you,you pay the carriage to them,if you need them shorter you may have to pay for this, likewise longer.

Cheers for the replies fellas. I will have a word with our pro and see what he says. Im not sure how much benefit i will get but i cant see it doing any harm :-)

Going up next week for a fitting in Gainsbrough - usually my Pro who is a Ping stockist measures me up but thought I would try and get it done by Ping as they have every possible shaft and lie angle to try out. You can book a half hour or 90 minute session and it costs 20-30 depending on which session you go for.

Looking to change up to new Ansers and give them a go and test against my current ones.

Did you book that through your pro? I think i will have a chat with ours and see if he thinks its worth me booking a fitting.

If u r looking for a lie/loft test.. go to your nearest Direct Golf showroom.. they do an 'MOT'. will easily reset ur lie. However, this is almost cosmetic compared to going thru a full custom fit. If I had money, I would go for a custom fit, but still waiting for my euromillion cheque

Am I missing something, or are they various routes you could consider?

If it was me, I'd go back to where I got them from and go from there. A pro could do it, or a range, or shop, whatever, but retro-fitting is going to cost either way. I know Ping will adjust the lie (dot) and all that, but someone who didn't sell you the clubs isn't going to do it for nothing.

I bought some 2nd hand Mizunos (+1/2", 2* up) and then a pro clubfitter double checked the fit and tested the lofts and lies. Fairly expensive experiment that, but worth it.
