We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
i must admit i trie dout eth new ones at Gainsborough and thought they were wonderful. Cant really push towards the £180 mark at the moment and i've got one of the cheaper recent years Anser 2s that i'm putting back in the bag at the moment. I'll see how i get back on with that and maybe splurge for my birthday .
I wasn't after anything in particular Boosh I was just pointing out how these 2 putters are the same!
They were sat next to each other on the shelf. Same club, different badge.
Being a Scotty owner, it made me feel a little cheated as I kind of figured Scotties were Scotties. Not Production line casts sold to other companies to rebrand, or vice versa!
The PING Anser is the original and every heel toe weighted putter ever produced since is a copy no matter who made it. As soon as the patent ran out the world and his dog were waiting to rip it off. Scotty Cameron "designed" putters is a myth, they were designed by Karsten Solheim in the 50's and 60's.
Much as I love my Scotty, a lot of his "designs" are basically copies of Pings. They are however beautifully made. I am surprised it's taken Ping so long to pick up that Scotty Cameron/Titleist were making a lot money out of this and launched their own milled series. The result is Ping copying Scotty copying Ping.
As said above the Anser is probably the most copied club of all time.
