That's pretty much the essence of design. They have designed it to be difficult, it's not accidental.

The jury is very much out but the lack of a decent MP3 player already has me considering returning it inside the 14 days.

MP3 player?? That's entirely what the iPhone is designed for with iTunes .. does the job but u have to have it

Apple lock everything down

If you want unrestrictive need to stay with android

Plus with the "design" it's two completely diff operating systems with apps built for them

Much like you can't transfer you saved games from playstation to Xbox..

iTunes is the least user friendly and poor quality playback application I have encountered. It was the first tried and the first retired.

Yes, I am aware of application portability and the issues that it brings. But unlike your game console analogy, phone applications are much simpler (in the most part) than games and for simple stuff like banking applications or even a messaging service like Whatsapp, there is absolutely no need to forcibly design it to be so difficult.

One of the easiest ways to transfer WhatsApp is back up then download from Google drive

They won't exactly programme that into apple

This is a well know issue to be fair

I had a company iPhone and a personal Android. I found the iPhone to be incredibly restrictive compared to the Android phone. It works fine as long as you use it with anything Apple, otherwise it's a pain. When I was due for a change, I swapped it for an Android. I'm a much happier bunny now.

I hated the iPhone, they make it difficult to transfer stuff back if you want to ( and I did) so would never consider going back to one.
Very happy with my current Motorola.

Reading through this thread I feel I must be doing something wrong with my phone (iPhone). I just use it for messaging (text and Whatsapp), browsing the net, playing a few timewaster type games and ordering in pubs - and the occasional call! I don't worry about transferring things, compatibility or anything :cool:

Yep, tried an IPhone a few years ago, cute little thing but what a pile of poo the os is and how locked out of everything you are. Give me an Android device any day.

Yeh, amazing how many people are suddenly app developers when all they do is whatsapp the wife, play candy crush and check the footy scores!!

'Oh its so restrictive'
'The OS is locked down too much'

Get a grip. Does it phone people? check. Does it download porn? Check.

Its all good.

I've only ever had an iPhone given by work. And it performed adequately.

I'd love to know what people are unlocking or need access to with Android. I've been using Android since the Galaxy S5 and can't think of a single time I've needed to delve into the inner workings of anything.

You don't have to be an app developer to appreciate a good user experience. I'm not an app developer (although I am both Python and Java certified) but even I can see that simple tasks are restricted by the OS.

No one needs to "get a grip" if an item doesn't meet their expectations. Did I make the choice to go iPhone? Yes. Did I make a mistake in doing so? I believe so as it's functionality does not fit my use case terribly well.

It's been a couple of years but iirc I had issues attaching certain file types in WhatsApp, I couldn't save some images in the web browser and ITunes is a total fecking joke, I ended up using a third party bit of software to transfer music to and from the phone. Android, no issues with any of that plus I plug it into my laptop and it's all there like you're connecting a USB drive.
I do love it how Apple fan boys get all uppity when someone knocks iphones ?

I would say you are in the minority of 'power users' if you will, for the rest of us, its purely a brand preference, the tech is 80% the same as is the end product (ie a phone call, a game of cards etc)

So I am up and running with my iPhone 12 5G. Had it 2 days and spent 10 mins connecting the phone to the car dash cam. I noticed the phone was 4G. A quick check online and my postcode shows my area is not a 5G area. Suffice to say I was bogged off.
I called EE and told them I felt like I had bought a gas cooker but don’t have any gas. Suffice to say that EE have knocked £5 a month off my contract but kept me on the 5G contract.
But how many folk pay for 5G but cannot get it.

Does it matter? Most are included for free and then when 5g is rolled out or you take your mobile you know Mobile.. you get it

I don't get 5g at home but do at work and parents house

It will come

Plus 4g is more than fast enough

I think it does matter, the selling point is 5G whether that is android or apple. Why pay for something you cannot get.

Because it's the future. You can get it you just can't at your house

The phones are sold as 5g ready. It's your responsibility to check your postcode to see what signal you can get.. tbh your lucky they gave you £5 a month off that's decent of them

Like I said my phone is 5g ready. I can't get at home but I can get 4g. Most phones are 5g ready now and you just get it when it is either rolled out or your in that area for the day

It won't be long.

5g isn't coming to Mansfield any time soon ?. Same for most other towns and country areas. Big cities only for the near future. For those not in a city, I wouldn't stress about having a 5g phone for a while yet.

I would love to share Paul’s positive vibe that it will be here soon, but he lives in a borough of London and he don’t have it there yet. ?
That said, happy with the outcome I am paying less per month than my last contract. But would EE of offered anything if they did not feel there was some kind of miss sell.
