As a student who holds down a part time job, the payment of £14 over my contract bill kills me! However, since I have had the phone, I seem to be going over on my internet bill every month!

I stopped using the internet, by deleting my email account I had set up to the phone, and facebook etc, yet im still going over my bill! Anybody have any ideas what it might be??

(The orange shop are useless, I have tried talking to them, and they just farm me off with a load of crap, like, you are watching too many videos, WHEN IM NOT!:)

If you have an iPhone, sell it and but a normal mobile phone with no 3G etc. Sounds harsh but if it is hurting your pocket, get rid of it or go PAYG.

Sounds to me as if you signed up to a package that you can't stick to because you are going over your limit, without using the internet excessively.
If you have a smart phone permanently on 3G I can quite believe it.
I've just signed my daughter up to 24 months at £10 per month. I'm expecting there to be extras on top. If they get out of hand, I will either a) go up a package or b) speak to them about *why* they've sold a package that even a light user can't keep below.
It's quite early days for some of this stuff.
For example, my wife sends picture messages and the charges for this are 25p per time. So, if she uses no other internet other than keeping the phone on, and sends 8 pictures, she gets £2 on her bill, even though she's under her Mb limit.

If you are hardly using the phone, then chances are they have mis-sold you the deal. To be sold a package that is impossible to keep under the basic provision of data, could be poor advice or even negligent. BUT proving that could be tricky but not impossible. Depends who you are with.

OR, dare I suggest that you talk to them about moving "up" a package if you are tipping over the top.

If it's orange, I know a fair bit as we have FOUR phones through them. What's the phone and what's the package?

This could be downloaded apps updating themselves. This happens to HID quite a lot - she has lots of apps!
You can set the apps to update automatically or you can set them to update when you say so.
If you have a lot of apps and the 3G is on all the time this could be why you're going over.

Contact Orange themselves, they are ok over the phone and can maybe help you where you are going wrong.
If you have a blackberry/iphone or android handset, these all use data, so if you dont have an allowance it will cost you more, check your contract to see exactly what you have.

You also pay your usage on you next bill, so it is always a month or more behind, log in to orange online and you can check usage from there.

Turn off mobile internet or at least alter the settings so they are useless, add a 1 or something to the end of everything.

Turn of 3G saves battery as well.

Turn off push messages for all apps as well.

Voila. Problem regarding internet usage sorted.

I used to have this problem because my wifi would cut out and the phone would drift over the edge or 3G while I was browsing.
