Personal Best: Gross 74!

betweem two pro's i beleive my pre shot routine was the key to todays score, it releases all tension to the point where after two practice swings everything feels so natural...

i honestly think if i can maintain that feeling in the PSR i could shoot todays scores on a regular basis.

Wish people wouldn't use so many abbreviations, what's PSR?

:)

Great stuff OS. I like reading about great rounds, and it's even better when they're the result of a lot of practice.

I'm sure you don't need telling though, there's a very fine line between self-belief and over-confidence. ;)

I really hope you do the same again Sunday though.

Great going - no reason not to repeat it on Sunday as you know you can do it if you stay relaxed (easy said!). Well done

Thanks guys

Darth. Psr..... Pre shot routine  I get what your saying about card in hand, the only backup is this was marking a card and it was quite clear from the 4 it was going to be a good round so I beleive the preasure was there, because I put it on myself.

Region - I know that fine line, it's tripped me many a time

great shooting congrats on a PB, hope you can do the same again sunday.

i think you are definately on to it here with the PSR and mind clear free golf, i played my best a few years ago getting down to 7, whilst having lessons and a key factor the pro built in was a repetative PSR found it woked at treat, in the process of trying to hone it again now.

Definately putting it down to clearing my mine on the psr. It's something I've worked on and between two different pros seem to have found one that just clicks.

It isn't long, it just clears all tension in the grip and swing thoughts, which is giving some great results need to remember that feeling even if it's just in the garden for 10 mins each might.

Top shooting OS - hopefully a summer run on the hanicap will follow. Thought I was playing well until I hit the medal on Sunday and wilted in the heat for a 94 (dropped 8 on 14 and 15) and now 14.5!!!! Arghhhhh

OS old boy, my advice would be not to get too cought up with your next medal score. Try and relax and just enjoy the round with no thoughts of the score.

I too shot a PB a few weeks ago, a 69 gross on a par 72 course. Had too high expectations on the comp the next weekend, very nerv and shot 95.

Gutted:(

been just enjoying the games since and though still a bit tense witha card still managed to shoot buffer in my last 4 medal rounds in some tough conditions.

Just enjoy, like im trying to;)

i know exactly what your saying patrick, if anything its just reassured me that there is a game in there which is exactly what i needed. given recent form has seen rounds in the 90's instead of 70's ive been very demoralised, the weekend saw a round with 32 points and that gave gave the impression my game was almost back but i was still a bit tense.

last night with no expectations things were groved and to be honest if when i play sunday i just shoot buffer or HC ill be chuffed given recent form.

hopefully my new 3wood will be here for sunday...

Good to read a thread like this from someone who was hitting rock bottom a while ago. I hope this is the start of a purple patch for you.

Interesting point on the PSR, I put one together and shot great scores in march/early april. Then I started getting too confident/lazy and stopped doing it on the course. I got a little too much rotella lol - picking a target and swinging at it. I think I need the PSR to make sure all the basics are there, then I can swing freely.

Happy Days OS .. ya know its in there now , thats great golf mate .. just try find that relaxed mode again & your laughing .. im struggling with the game at present so hopefuly your positivity & good golf will start to rub off ha ha .. good stuff man

one pro commented that my grip had far too much tension, and that spilled on to my lower arms, also i needed to get the feeling of whipping through the ball to the top of the follow through swing to avoid quiting on it so to speak, the other pro have me a tip to try and ensure a one plane swing.

by combining both pre shot routines i seem to have developed my own that seems to clear all tension and swing thoughts, gives me the feeling of a relaxed swing, with good tempo and a good finishing position... 2 swings and im good to go.
