Rules Gurus, some help please
This one confused us all...
Scenario:
- pairs, betterball, matchplay
- team A comprises players A1 and A2
- team B comprises players B1 and B2
- both teams are on the green
- all 4 balls are marked and removed
Team A have the honour
- A1 duffs his putt and picks up (already taken a few more shots than his partner)
- A2 then races his putt past the hole
Simultaneously, an oblivious B1 replaces his ball and pockets his marker:
- A2's ball in motion hits B1's
(B2 still had his ball marked and hadn't putted)
Now obviously B1 is at fault and should have been paying attention and not replaced his ball until A2's stopped
Due to mass confusion and there not being a referee nearby *, team B conceded the hole with no hard feelings (although competetive, the match was played in good spirit)
However, if they hadn't conceded, what should've been the ruling? What penalties/ rules apply?
Answers on a postcard...
Thanks
SG

* yes they should've had rule books to hand
