Pedro rode into town

It is the tartan of the Isle of Bute where my Maw is from so had em already, total coincidence.
Certanly was, you should have mentioned, we all could have turned up in some sort of tartan trews for the giggle.
Boot or B'yoot btw?

HTL and Homer, congratulations. HTL if your official h/c is 17 then it's 17 you will play off, if you or your partner then has a day that we all want to have, and lets be honest we all want one, then all you can say is well done.

When we played the 2010 Jeff and I could see you had a game and it would come to the front one day.

HTL, when are you back in God's country next ?

The Squire.

Will be back at the start of the School holidays mate. Will arrange a game then. How do you fancy coming down to Neath for a game? I played it over Easter and its a great track.

This post has really gone on! Could you imagine what would have happend if we reached the 50 points mark!!! Plus we still dont know if we have won, its yet to be confirmed by the club.

Didn’t reply to this thread as some comments have pissed me right off, in no way am I a cheat and take great offence to anyone implying that I am.

I don't think you are a cheat but would you mind awfully if we continue to refer to you as Pedro? :D :D

Pedro......... Hmmmmm it does have a certain ring to it.

You can use it if you come down to Ascot for a game at 9:00am round Ascot. Im playing with some bloke called Homer + PhilTheFragger.

Iv been reading this thread for the past 50 mins and i have to say there are some very harsh comments about HTL. As some have already said i dont know the man either never met him and wish him the best but he sounds genuine from some descriptions about him...
I can relate to his game in a way also...Im off 19 and on some days can play way below it im not a bandit and would take great offence to being called one.But as was pointed out in another post with a card im my pocket i want to be off scratch yesterday and it doesnt happen that way....I know iv got part of the game to get me to singles but the other half doesnt show up half enough when i want it to....I think for anyone to label him one should have hard proof before accusing him of the crime.

I think alot of comments are down to pure bitterness and jealousy.
I get smart comments thrown at me from strangers that i might have the misfortune of playing with wondering when they see my hit the ball so well and watch the game that i can have at times why the hell im still off of 19......
You can almost feel them talking behind your back about you....I dont care how mentally tough you are this does have a bearing on the outcome of a round.....
Give the guy a break and a chance to prove himself and if he doesnt do that then by all means judge him then But until then give him the benefit of the doubt....I would.

Think to be fair most of the comments were aimed at me for the title, calling his handicap a joke and generally suggesting he was a bandit and it was the reason we won. I think the whys and wherefores of those particular points have been covered enough already but suffice to say if he ever gets tired of carrying me (and who would blame him on recent performances) there is a queue forming at the club to take my place. I think that says enough about his ability and the fact that no-one sees a problem with his handicap within the club.

Moral of the story is probably not to try humour and irony when talking about handicaps and banditry or enjoy the win

Im looking forward to meeting for the first time and playing with both Homer & HTL on Friday.

Is there a good place to tie up my Donkey?

El Fragger

Had the pleasure of playing with HTL recently at the London Club meet. I was partnering Auburn Warrior against HTL and Murp.

It was evident pretty early on that HTL had the game of a much better handicapper. His ball striking was pure and he is long off the tee, very long.
It was a great match and me and Auburn managed to beat them on the 17th to take the fiver on offer. Unfortunately HTL managed to win it back pipping me by a point with 37 points in the overall individual stableford.

Conditions were tough...we were off the whites and it was blowing quite a lot.

At no point during the round did I ever consider the notion that HTL was a bandit. Yes he played some exquisite golf shots, easily worthy of a low single handicapper, but he also had his fair share of bloopers and only beat his handicap on the day by 1.

I said at the time that he had the potential to play to single figures, but as others have said, he has to do it with a card in his hand. I also know that every time he plays a medal, he is trying 100% to get that cut that he deserves. He's that kind of guy.

So HTL, many congratulations mate on your round and I hope it's enough to win it. An out of competition cut by the secretary would do you the world of good and I reckon it's just what you might need to kick start a good run in the medals. Looking forward to playing you again, and yes, I'll still play you for money off your official handicap. ;)

Now Bob...is that Chili ready yet?? :D

Not really. Whilst you are CLEARLY to blame for this incident Hywel is in fact (I hope he will agree) a victim of his own success. His bounce games are becoming legendary... but as we have established bounce games are not what makes a h/cap.
When you know someone can quite often shoot 40pts in bounce games it's harder to acknowledge genuine success when they go on to pick up some proper silverware for it.

He has the game (without doubt) to be a much lower h/cap, even though I don't think he's a bandit of any sort I do find it hard to fathom why he would need shots on the par 3's when he can normally hit a 7-iron to any that are shorter than 200yds, so that in itself would put him off 14 ... but then I have also witnessed his putting first hand

For Hywel it's only a matter of time, if he needs uncle James to come and caddy for him in his medal rounds he only needs to ask :D

(I'll hide his driver for starters!)
