PCC algorithm changin

Just checked ours and last year from 1/3 to 19/5 we had one PCC day of 1. This year in the same 10 week period we have had 14 instances, one of -1, 6 of 1, 5 of 2 and 2 of 3. This is really a huge change.
Under the old system CSS (of course only applicable on competition days) only ever changed maybe half a dozen times a year.
Seems as if the PCC is ultra sensitive now.

Most opens up here under UHS would have had a CSS of +1 for visitors and no change for home players under old rules - now if there is a PCC of 1 or more it covers all players in the field - so a slight benefit to home players!

Why is the competition off the white tees, then?

Years ago there were many complaints about seniors comps always being off the yellow tees* (including from me ) so we now have about 4/5 a year off whites.

With the exception being The Seniors Club Championship

Our seniors are from age 55 and even on a personal level my decline in length did not really start until I was in my late 60s.

If the Seniors section voted to have competition off whites rather than yellows, then surely that is decision made. If there are a good amount of that Seniors section, could there not be consideration to split it into 2 competitions. White tees for the majority, and a separate one off yellows? Or, would there only be 2 or 3 that would play off yellows?

In regards to some of the issues playing off whites.

1. Some seniors unable to reach the fairway off the tee - is there any chance the fairway could be cut closer to the tee? Is the rough before the fairway extremely penal, or is is light rough?
2. Some seniors unable to reach the dogleg on some holes - does this matter? Presumably they have handicaps that allows them one or 2 shots on the hole?

It always amazes me that players (especially seniors) with handicaps of 18 plus expect to get on every green in regulation and get cross when they don’t score lots of pars!
At first read, i agree that can be irritating, but I put my situation forward in ‘mitigation’ ( lightheartedly) .

I joined my club 7 years ago with a lapsed handicap, put my three cards in and was awarded a handicap of 10 (under the old system). I stood on every tee with the intention of making par - didn’t do so - but it’s how I liked to play. I have birdied each hole over the years and eagled four - career eclectic of 50. (well done me 😀😀👏👏).

At 70, my HI has crept up to 14.1, CH of 17 off our whites. I am struggling to reach the greens in regulation but, and the reason for this reply, I still stand on each tee with intention of making par - it’s how I want to play.
