Went up to the golf course today just to hit some balls on the practice area to get back into the swing!

On arrival told the course is shut due to some paths still having ice on them, due to health and safety blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda, the course has to remain closed incase someone falls blah, blah, blah...... decide to take legal action against the club blah, blah, blah. You get the picture.

That's OK says I, I'm only going to use the practice area and hit 50 or so balls. Sorry that's part of the course and you cant use it was the reply!!! WTF!

YOU DRIVE UP A SIDE ROAD AND THE PRACTICE AREA IS THERE. PARK IN A CAR PARK AND WALK ON!!!!

Health and safety! Meh!

I would have been fuming. You pay your membership and then get told you cant even practice?
Just say, you understand the dangers and accept the risk and just go and practice anyway and see what happens.

These sort of things drive my wife mad. She carries out health and safety duties on the construction and operation of power station and most of these examples of so called 'health and safety' are a load of garbage.

At least it LOOKS bigger, and the wife loves it, but boy does it itch!

I had exactly the same situation at the weekend and did the same as Bob And Homer suggested.....ignored them and went and practiced.....what they going to do get a couple of bouncers to eject me from the practice ground???.....i've been thrown out of better places!!!
