I can see the sense in letting them do it for pace of play alone. 3 golfers all asking each other where the nearest point is on every hole is going to slow it down too much. Its already 5+ hours when they are playing normally. I agree that the rules are the rules but what can you do? Money talks and it would hardly make great viewing plus the fact there is the danger of a call coming in from a viewer and a potential D/Q for playing from the wrong spot etc.
