I tend to know my own mind about what gear I do and don't like, the strengths (not many) and weaknesses (too many too list) and the way I try and approach the game. Someone used the word obsessive but if you look it up in the GM Forum I think you'll find it copyrighted HomerJ.
I get frustrated that I'm not as good as I think I could (should) be and so work at trying to improve. Sometimes like 2009 where I spent most summer evenings looking for a perfect repeating swing and only found flaws and a loss of confidence that ran into 2010, I get it spectacularly wrong. I get stick for the amount of lessons I have, but I CAN see an improvement in where I am now compared to 2009 working mostly on my own. I have ditched the idea of a pefect swing and as long as I can work towards eliminating the lift on my downswing even 50% to get to a better impact position then I'll settle for it.
Last year was about hitting it finding it and repeating and trying to enjoy the process. It won't stop me looking at all the new gear and all the time the guys at my local AG let me take it out or the Sand Martins pros give me some demos I'll carry on. Nothing beats seeing if a club lives up to the marketing spiel in the hands of this 12 handicap chopper.
Do I overthink. Probably. Do I make life over-complicated. Definitely. Am I likely to change. Nope.
