How much use is shouting fore anyway? All it does is make the person look up (if he even realises the shout is directed at him) and get face on to the ball

Wow driveforshow, the very last thing I would do upon hearing 'fore' is look up, I turn my back to the shout direction and assume a squatting position with hands over head.
I think you should practice this move or you could soon be without teeth!

Birdieman, in your enthusiasm to belittle another forum member I think you failed to understand what my post was about. I was not advocating this move, merely pointing out that it is a natural reaction if someone shouts Watch Out! at you to look up. Shout fore! on a golf course and you'll see various reactions - including frequently this one. Therefore by shouting fore you may be having an contrary effect to the one you wished. It was just an idea I was floating. That was all.

Let's keep debate civilised on this forum, eh Birdieman. I know you probably do not mean to be as rude as you are, but we all are strangers to one another so "aggressive bantering" shall we call it may not always be appropriate when we don't know how the other will take it.

We want to encourage as many people to post on this forum, and to share their views, otherwise its just the same old people saying the same old things to the same old people.

DriveForShow, in your enthusiasm to be a patronising primary school teacher you have failed to understand that you dont make up the forum rules.
Someone puts the boot in, someone else responds by agreeing or disgareeing, fists fly, tempers get frayed, then we all settle down again for a couple of days then it kicks off again. It's entirely democratic and allows freedom of expression, that's what it's all about.
I would claim that the comment aimed at moi "Do you actually play golf?" merited an equally cheeky response which I gave.
Agrressive bantering -good expression but not one I'd agree with in this case.
"Same old people saying the same old things"? THAT SOUNDS LIKE AGGRESSIVE BANTERING TO ME!

Shouting Fore is another of the reminders that I would like to see printed on the scorecard.

Birdieman - when did I say to you "Do you actually play golf"? I think you will find its another poster!

Sadly, you appear to have totally misunderstood my last post. And it is my last post.

Apologies for any offence caused.

DFS, Where do you think you are going? Where else is there to go? Temperatures rise and fall on this forum day in and day out. If Bman suffered from mistaken identity I am sure he will rectify that but from reading the posts I can't see where it got aggresive, perhaps your interpretation and mine differ slightly but in 6 months on here the one thing that will not be tollerated by the GM fellas and also other posters is bullying or anything similar. Stick with it and I am sure within the next week some other poster will have you and Bman batting on the same team agian.

Hey, Birdieman. It was me who asked if you played golf! You criticised DFS for believing that DFS sets the forum rules - well you often forget that neither do you!

The point DFS was making was that some - like you and me - are obviously up for a bit of joshing. But others may not be. Unless you know whether the person is up for a bit of strong banter, wait and see before crashing in. DFS was making the point that she (I'm guessing?) didn't like cheeky banter directed at her (it is rather a male thing!), so please lay off her and play the ball not the man. You then responded with a deluge of banter aimed squarely at her. Sorry Birdieman - that was a joke too far which was always going to fall flat.

I'm feeling a bit of a S H one T too at the moment. Sorry DFS if you got caught up in our crossfire. For what its worth: DFS I enjoyed your posts - you had some interesting things to say and you said them well. Hope you do come back to us soon.

Thanks dfs you are clearly a gentleman, apologies to you too for any offence.
Sometimes I forget to take my pills, need to learn to control my rage!
I think I've been on here too long, should probably take a sabbatical like Golfer2112 who, true to his word, hasn't been seen since his 'drugs in golf' post deletion incident last week.
