Rant time - find it hard to believe that in 2013 you can buy an item on a website only to get an email later telling you its out of stock, are their IT systems still stuck in 1999? - second time Ive had this from a golf retailer this year and it really bugs me. surely it cant be that hard to have a real time stock system, connected to the check out so that you dont frustrate customers into not shopping with you again!!!

that feels better :)

I have found a few retailers do it this its almost as if they don't actually have items to hand, once I've had this expierience I avoid those in future. You soon build up a use and avoid list, after best price isn't any use if you don't get what you want!

Pretty certain in this case it isnt this, appears from a follow up email that several of us tried to buy the last of a sale item and that we had all added to basket before any checked out, however a mistake in their system then allowed all of us not just one of us to checkout, theyve assured me theyve fixed said glitch (not that it helps me lol)

Posted on this topic a few times recently where people have had the same. Many of the retailers don't actually physically hold the stock and are drop-shippers. Their "stock system" is actually a link to a distributer that has many companies linked in the same so that it makes it harder to show "live" stick levels.

It's a total pain as there are quite a few of them out there.

I think a lot of companies "drop ship" from suppliers so they don't actually hold stock, perhaps this is the case here and the suppliers out of stock

Doesn't help you but might explain why
