On the CLOCK!!!

Surely if you are posing the questions you know them?

I'll add laziness to the other descriptions in that case!

Try these.

So did they actually put them on the clock?

Did they then subsequently take too long? And did they warn them?

Or was play just generally slow? Perhaps because of the conditions - and the circumstances!

As for your last sentence, I think putting Woods and Westwood on the clock demonstrates they absolutely do have hat it takes! Wouldn't you agree?

As for Laird/Dustin on the 3rd, I think having a 9 on that hole might have had something to do with it. What actually happened?

And do you actually believe in applying the Rules (and Procedures) of Golf? Or would you randomly apply a penalty for someone deemed to be 'slow'?

Touche.......I'll pop illiterate into a list of attributes for yourself then.

Can I ask one question of you? Are you a slow play apologist?

You are totally missing the points of my posts, totally. My point re Laird and Dustin taking 2 days to play the 3rd was that despite Laird taking 9 and contributing to the 2 days his pairing was still up the ass of Zach's group even tho the fact it took Laird 2 days should have meant the gap was the other way around. Why was it not? Because Zach's group were taking a huge amount of time to play yet none of the supposed rules to combat slow play appeared to be applied to them causing Laird and Dustin to be sat waiting an many, many shots.

It's a cancer that is spreading and the R&A,USGA,Tours are in my opinion not doing enough to stem it but are only giving a few token gestures out to the less famous golfers when there are other golfers, more famous, worthy of punishment (by the means of the rules).I cannot honestly believe that blind eyes are not being turned to more high profile golfers more worthy of punishment.

I think the current process for assessing and penalising slow play clearly doesn't work. It's obvious to all when someone is playing excessively slowly but it would be chaos if penalties were handed out purely on an individual referee's subjective opinion. Hence the process for assessing position on the course and placing groups on the clock prior to looking at timing shots.

So some sort of formal process is needed but what would be better than the one currently used? Maybe give every player a set amount of time to spend during a round between the time when it is their turn to play (and it is clear to play) and actually hitting the shot? Maybe use some sort of %age formula to compensate for people taking more shots? Big extra overhead to implement and police that though....

They do nothing and they are wrong...
They do something and they are wrong...
Tough being an unpaid official...

Never ever seen a player being happy to be told their on the clock...
Even Mr laid back FreddieC lost his temper last year when being put on the clock playing with Mr slow himself...
