I've thought of an alternative scoring format.

Handicap Index minus Score Differential.

HI - SD =

Highest score wins.

Apply all your thinking all the way round to making the lowest Score Differential that you can. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Although I chose Medal, I’m happy to play any format apart from yellowsomes. My preferred winter format, if not playing singles, is Canadian greensomes - both tee off, then hit your partner’s ball, then choose which ball to finish the hole with. It’s a social format that also gets you round quicker than a four ball - essential when it’s freezing!

What on Earth is yellowsomes?

At my old club, we used the term American Greensomes for your Canadian. It was slightly less rubbish than greensomes.

Yellowsomes also called bloodsomes

Like foursomes but instead of you picking which ball to use the other pair pick

Yellowsomes/bloodsomes is also known as gruesomes.

For me, greensomes is a winter game. It gets more people out on the course when daylight is limited, and it gets them round the course quicker than a four ball when it’s cold.

We used to have greensomes for our winter knockout but we changed to football as people didn’t like it.
The course is rammed with 4 balls in the winter anyway.
Most groups get round in under 3.5 hours.

We are told to putt out in bogey if we would still score a stapleford point. To maintain handicap integrity.
…against your CH? Though I’m thinking that most, if not all, clubs will have PH for the (Bogey) comp to be 100% of your CH.

Still don’t like that WHS has taken away ones of the main interesting aspects of bogey…that of taking on shots I wouldn’t normally attempt in an attempt to not lose the hole, or indeed to try and win the hole if the circumstances so demanded.

It hasn't taken anything away has it really. You're still free to play as you wish.
