I don’t get that…maybe I’m missing something. It hasn't taken anything away has it really. You're still free to play as you wish.
Only answer is if your going to play Bogey comps make it a non Q.I don’t get that…maybe I’m missing something.
Got a tricky shot for a four to try and get a half on a par four without a shot. I could play conservative and good chance of five…but that’s no good to me so I go for it. I mess up and end up with a seven, when a five was a distinct possibility.

Which is correct! Pre WHS we didn’t think of 1pts, if you lost the hole, you picked up!Try your post #27
Different mindset, I’m not playing Bogey/Par Golf to get 1 point, I want a win or a half.It hasn't taken anything away has it really. You're still free to play as you wish.
No, it's irrelevant, play how you want play.Different mindset, I’m not playing Bogey/Par Golf to get 1 point, I want a win or a half.
So you’d have no issue if you were playing a Match Play game and your opponent told you he was putting a card in for handicap so you’ll have to play 18 holes and he’ll be putting out on every hole! No, it's irrelevant, play how you want play.
Hmmm, not something I was aware of as we don't have Par/Bogey Comps.Which is correct! Pre WHS we didn’t think of 1pts, if you lost the hole, you picked up!
You also didn’t send out reminders pre WHS!
Cheers Dave, thanks for joining in.Hmmm, not something I was aware of as we don't have Par/Bogey Comps.
I don't see the relevance. Just nonsense what if. The fact I have to putt if I can score a point makes no odds to how I play a bogey comp.So you’d have no issue if you were playing a Match Play game and your opponent told you he was putting a card in for handicap so you’ll have to play 18 holes and he’ll be putting out on every hole!
They are a bit rubbish, nothing missedHmmm, not something I was aware of as we don't have Par/Bogey Comps.
You’re missing the point! We know the rules now, it’s exactly as you’ve put, we have no choice, the questions started when all I said was I preffered it prior to the change in WHS.I don't see the relevance. Just nonsense what if. The fact I have to putt if I can score a point makes no odds to how I play a bogey comp.
They're not liked very much..... maybe because it's possibly the toughest format there is as you get no 'walker-over' holes as you may in match-playThey are a bit rubbish, nothing missed![]()
Do you still putt out for a point when you play on your own or is it ‘pure’ matchplay? They're not liked very much..... maybe because it's possibly the toughest format there is as you get no 'walker-over' holes as you may in match-play
However, it's what I play when on a solo round.
Brilliant, You win the internet today.Do you still putt out for a point when you play on your own or is it ‘pure’ matchplay?
I have always known a gruesome as a mixed foursomeYellowsomes/bloodsomes is also known as gruesomes.
For me, greensomes is a winter game. It gets more people out on the course when daylight is limited, and it gets them round the course quicker than a four ball when it’s cold.
Did they not count toward handicap before whs. I never played them untill the last couple of yearsYou’re missing the point! We know the rules now, it’s exactly as you’ve put, we have no choice, the questions started when all I said was I preffered it prior to the change in WHS.![]()
Prior to WHS you picked up when you lost the hole.Did they not count toward handicap before whs. I never played them untill the last couple of years
Ive only played them under whs so don't know any different, but it makes no odds to how I play. Crap mostlyPrior to WHS you picked up when you lost the hole.
So, at the end of the round you totalled up and if for example you were 2 up, it was converted to Stableford points, 38pts, for handicap purposes.
The change to putting out if you could score 1 stableford point was only introduced when we moved to WHS.
As others had said, it was more Matchplay in that on a hole you didn’t get a shot and you had 1 putt for the Par, you were more inclined to go for it as a bogey meant nothing more than a loss on your card. Bogey, Double Bogey etc was all counted as the same, a loss.
