It hasn't taken anything away has it really. You're still free to play as you wish.
I don’t get that…maybe I’m missing something.

Got a tricky shot for a four to try and get a half on a par four without a shot. I could play conservative and good chance of five…but that’s no good to me so I go for it. I mess up and end up with a seven, when a five was a distinct possibility.

Only answer is if your going to play Bogey comps make it a non Q.

Absolutely. If bogey (or any matchplay) is NOT qualifying, you don't need to worry about the impact on your total score, just getting one less than your opponent! (the course or a human! :-) )

No, it's irrelevant, play how you want play.
So you’d have no issue if you were playing a Match Play game and your opponent told you he was putting a card in for handicap so you’ll have to play 18 holes and he’ll be putting out on every hole!

I don't see the relevance. Just nonsense what if. The fact I have to putt if I can score a point makes no odds to how I play a bogey comp.

You’re missing the point! We know the rules now, it’s exactly as you’ve put, we have no choice, the questions started when all I said was I preffered it prior to the change in WHS.👍🏻

Did they not count toward handicap before whs. I never played them untill the last couple of years

Prior to WHS you picked up when you lost the hole.
So, at the end of the round you totalled up and if for example you were 2 up, it was converted to Stableford points, 38pts, for handicap purposes.
The change to putting out if you could score 1 stableford point was only introduced when we moved to WHS.
As others had said, it was more Matchplay in that on a hole you didn’t get a shot and you had 1 putt for the Par, you were more inclined to go for it as a bogey meant nothing more than a loss on your card. Bogey, Double Bogey etc was all counted as the same, a loss.

Ive only played them under whs so don't know any different, but it makes no odds to how I play. Crap mostly
