Omega moon watch

Well am home and shattered. No tax paid on watch. The cruise ( me first carribbean one ) was fantastic. Bonaire is just a divers paradise, If your into that
Anyway, sat at a table in the atrium yesterday day waiting to leave the ship and me and Missis T were talking to a couple we had not met on the cruise. Am looking at his wrist and could not believe he had the same watch on as me, only differance mine being the sapphire glass version. Had it years and He loves it. Talk about buying something unique, how I laughed.

Should have bought a Casio.

Who said golf was a rich man's sport?

Enjoy, you've obviously worked hard to be able to afford it.

Cheers boys. Always said I would treat myself, but when push comes to shove it's a bit harder than it seems. Consoled myself with the fact age lost a lot more on cars than what I paid for this.

You'll probably find yourself looking at other people's wrists now a lot to see what they have tbh.
That's a cracking watch you've bought, wouldn't mind one myself, but fancy a planet ocean first.

That is a lovely watch, the Planet Ocean. My brother has just bought one, as a legacy piece to our mum and dad. He was very lucky, got a nice little discount off it being the last of the series 2 still on Omega UK's stock.

Oddly enough the planet ocean ( orange bezel ?) was my dream watch but the ones I saw, The cost was killing me. I could be wrong but I think they came in two watch sizes. Tried one on in Barbados, it was the larger face and looked massive on me wrists. Plus It weighed a ton. Coz it was 600m water depth, the watch itself was a lot fatter. Now if I was 600 m deep I would A, not be looking at the time. Coz B, I would be dead.
That aside, the guy I bought the watch off ( Jose) did a fantastic presentation on the Omega watch re history etc.

No, it was the previous model (series 2) with a greyish bezel, and was 42mm case. He has narrow wrists, but it doesn'tt look out of place, and is a gorgeous piece.

I did not know this until I spoke to Jose, but he mentioned that it is not usually the watch face that makes a watch look big on the wrist but the claws on the side of the face that connect the strap to the face. Some drop straight down and others come out almost square. He showed me what he was on about. Furthermore he mentioned the size of the hand would also show whether the watch face looked overly large or not.
Will try to post a piccie. Don't hold you breath am not the best when it comes to IT.

The one on the left is the first watch on the moon and used on Apollo 13. There is a story re said watch and that mission. Not gonna bore you with it. The only differance was the strap. Mine is the same as that but the glass is differant on the front and also has a glass back.
The other watch I was seriously tempted with, it was £600 cheaper (2.8k) but stuck with the moon watch.
Hope it loads

edit to say mine is on the bottom 😂

The lugs make a huge difference in how it looks in your wrist. Take a look at the Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co Axial. A beautiful watch but the lugs are very long and really change the look of the watch on the wrist.

My first mechanical watch was/is a Breitling. Got it through Jos Verstappen who had some sort of sponsorship deal. Needs a service now and the face seems so small. Sorted my brother out with one, he wears it every day.
Next was an Omega P.O. 42mm steel bracelet orange bezel. I bought this on the way out to some race. The next month there was a price rise, they seem to have been going up for the last 10 yrs. I love this watch, I wear it every day.
I also treated myself to a TAG grande carrera dual time, got a discount via a contact. I wore that watch on my wedding day. It’s a nice watch but if I had not wore it on my wedding day I probably would have traded.
My final watch is a Panerai Luminor, wedding present from the wife. Only watch that was at full price. I like it but I would say the quality is not there and they are charging mega bucks for the brand. The movement is manual and dates back to 1947... nothing fancy like a coaxial.
I love my cars, but I have that passion under control last new car I bought was in 2006 and I still have it! I haven’t bought an expensive watch since 2010 ... and probably won’t until 2027!
enjoy your watch, marvel at the craftsmanship and think about the engineering

Just caught up with this thread, and for whatever reason going down memory lane has put a big cheesy grin on me face. Cheers guys.
