£3,500 at Goldsmiths. For what it is worth there is a new one on ebay for £2995 or best offer from a seller with 100% feedback on nearly 6,000 transactions.

Would you pay tax on it ?

I love a nice watch but £2900 for that? What else does it do?
If I ever win the lottery one of the jewellers in West Quay has a £12k Breitling I have my eye on...

Have you got an exact model, there is quite a few variants of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch?
Chrono 24 is quite good to give you a ball park figure.

If you invest in the right watch you aren't losing any money either, so in fact the 'more money than sense comment' couldn't be further from the truth.

My first luxury watch (bought new) cost me £3,800 in 2008 and the very same model is on Watchfinder for £6k+. Likewise, my second was bought 18 months ago brand new and is already up 10%.

There aren't expensive many things you get to enjoy which also go up in value!

Whatever you get, get it from a reputable dealer, and keep the box and papers...forever until you sell/give it away.
The internet is full of "genuine fakes" that are really hard to tell from the genuine article.

Agreed. If you buy the right one it will go up. 3 of mine have gone down but the limited edition omega I've got has gone up.

Cheers boys. As with most things in my life it gets complicated. The original is £2.9k but the glass is poor. The later ones have sapphire glass front and back and are £3.4k. Missis T said get it. Hot three days to make me mind up. Re tax. Ave been told if i wear it. It mine no tax. If i take it back in the box. Its a gift and you pay tax if you get pulled. Watch this page.

The previous version had hesalite crystal and stainless steel case back as does the version that replaced it. It has an rrp of approx £3520 (previously £2,880). The difference between the two is an improved bracelet and the new version comes with a presentation box, nato strap and a few other bits and bobs.

The version with the sapphire crystal and case back retails at approx £5,800. If you can get it for £3,400 it's a bargain.

The original Moonwatch had hesalite crystal as it was more shockproof.
