Omega moon watch

If you want a nice watch at a more realistic price then take a look at Christopher Ward Watches. They are Swiss made and British Designs. I have some and love them.

Ha! I totally agree with this sentiment! I've been considering these for some time, though haven't actually bitten the bullet and 'gone for it'! I'd bet you've got 1 (or more) of the Malvern range too!

Be careful though about using 'Swiss Made' though. While the movements are Swiss (as stated on the face) they must breach (or not be certified for) 'Swiss Made' rules. Probably something that keeps the price more reasonable - and it's the movement that's the heart of a watch!

Having a Casio Edifice though has rather spoiled my reverence of accuracy. Solar powered and synced whichever atomic clock is 'local', there's little need for a super-accurate movement! For, increasingly rare, dress occasions my significantly more delicate Baume-Mercier Riviera works.

As for the OP's choice...Unless you've been hankering after this watch, or very similar, for some time, I'd pass on that deal. Seems it's only the duty/tax that is 'reducing' the price and that will be available elsewhere - on your next journey abroad!

They do actually manufacture the watch in Switzerland, it's not just the movement. Mine states 'Made in Switzerland'

Yes, I do have a 'Malvern Chronograph' :)

Gmc many many thanks. In barbados now and the original watch is £3.4k here. I can get the sapphire one on board for that Price.

Feeling the love at the moment.

Double check if it's the "moonphase" version. That is sapphire also but has a lower rrp. Still cheaper than the UK though.

This thread is hugely annoying. All this talk of beautiful watches, the Christopher Ward ones are lovely by the way, good tip, but unfortunately for me they are currently out of reach. When the kids have left home ..................

At the moment I'm the kid with his nose pressed against the shop window looking in.

You lucky bunch.

Well LT ave gone from window shopping to making the plunge. Always said thay one day i would get one and yesterday was that day. Pick it up in 4 hours. Its a thing of beauty that really took some soul searching before buying. Took the watch box back to the room last night. 3.6 kg in weight. Whats that all about.

Blimey, 3.6kg is quite a weight. Hope you get past the price tag and just enjoy it. A lovely treat. I hope I'm in that same position in a few years time.

...

Seems to be a mix of 'Swiss Movt' and 'Swiss Made'! Most of the ones I saw

'Swiss Made' (or 'Made in Switzerland') Rules changed recently, but I wouldn't have thought the 20% increase (from 50% to 60%) in the Swiss component of value would have triggered the need for CW to change! Some CW watches apparently even have both 'descriptions' (Movt/Made) on the same watch!

Back to the OP again...Seems you have had your eye on one of these for a while, so...Hope you enjoy your purchase!

Well am home and shattered. No tax paid on watch. The cruise ( me first carribbean one ) was fantastic. Bonaire is just a divers paradise, If your into that
Anyway, sat at a table in the atrium yesterday day waiting to leave the ship and me and Missis T were talking to a couple we had not met on the cruise. Am looking at his wrist and could not believe he had the same watch on as me, only differance mine being the sapphire glass version. Had it years and He loves it. Talk about buying something unique, how I laughed.
