Olympus Has Fallen

+1 for Olympus has fallen watched it via DVD a month ago and also watched White House down 2 weeks ago on DVD. Both good films but Olympus has fallen edges it for me.

Film snob here, I'd rather fry my testicles in lard than watch Olympus Has Fallen
Not really an action film fan to be honest, most are predictable and just shoot, car chase, shoot, car chase etc.
Best film of that ilk I've seen lately is End Of Watch, a cop movie with a difference, definitely worth a watch.

some pretty tough action in that movie, good acting but a very cliche story imo

I don't know if talking about other films is going off topic but I thought Jack reacher (which has been on SKY recently) was a brilliant film.

'twas better than I thought it would be but just couldn't get my head round the fact that Tom Cruise, a vertically challenged actor of the first order, had been cast as a 6' 5" 240 pound ex military cop.

The books I very much like and normally get read in about 3 days.

Have to agree. Decent film but Tom Cruise totally miscast.

Tomorrow night I am going to give the new Star Trek film a go and will report back.

Watched The Hobbit on Netflix the other day and actually preferred it to Lord of the Rings. If you want action, however, I watched Dredd and The Raid the other week and enjoyed both.

Gonna have to go against the grain and suggest Olympus has Fallen might be one of the worst films I've seen in years. Absolutely brutal.

thing is he cast himself! Tom bought the rights to the books as I dont think anyone would have cast him in that role..based on the authors description.

Thought Dredd was *Dead*....rubbish
The Raid was not bad albeit a tad far fetched

Also going to give Star Trek a run tomorrow- looking forward to it as I love star trek....done properly

Watched Olympus at the weekend. A decent action film and very die hard in the White House. It didn't pretend to be anything it wasn't really, you know what to expect. It's not going to win any oscars! I've got zero dark thiry to watch next. I'm interested to watch world war z as I've read the book which was great. The film though is nothing like it though apart from the zombies!

A few comparisons to Die - comp it to Die Had 5 (A Good Day to Die Hard) and it should be a no brainer - I watched this earlier in the week and it has to be said - it is one of the worst films ever made - what a pile of poo!! I will never get that waste of 90 minutes back!

I found it a bit far fetched. OK I know it's far fetched anyway, but even more so this time.
Watch it. You'll see what I mean
;)

I agree, and too much effort to shoe horn in scenes from another Star Trek Film (I will not say which in case anyone wants to watch it and does not know the 'Twist'). Came across more as a straight Sci-fi action film rather than what I would call a Star Trek film. Quite enjoyable but a bit disappointing given some of the reviews that I have read.

pity, will watch it tonight before any spoilers come out..........either that or World War Z

Got World War Z ready to watch tonight, I like a good old fashioned zombie/horror type film, not sure what to expect from this one.

well it was World war Z I watched, it's certainly imo a good take on the zombie films and takes it to a different level, it's still got me thinking the next day.......it was very well done and its the concept and the films portrayal of it I find more frightening than the actual scenes, however there was some very intense moments throughout but not gory just terrifying!

Overall I enjoyed it and might even watch it again which is unusual for me.

P.S I saw some of the scenes in Glasgow being shot, looked completely different on the big screen and I've no idea why they went there and made it look like Philidelphia.

Was there subtitles in it for the alien/zombie talking bits?

I loved it, but then again I'm not a Star Trek fan really. I do think Zachary Quinto (or whatever his name is) nails Spock in his own way.
