The torch relay came through my manor this morning, absolutely brilliant spectacle and atmosphere. If that was an indication of what the games are going to be like then bring it on! :D

One of my lads works fairly close to Dorney where the rowing events are to be held... Flame went through there this week messing up traffic flow... So he's hoping for some dry weather for when the games actually arrive so he can either cycle to work or jump on the Suzuki... Or as he says don't expect me home much before midnight :(...

Saw the videos of it going past my sisters place a couple of days ago.

Pretty underwhelming if i'm honest. I'm glad I wasn't there for it!

Some mincer in a shellsuit floating down the road with a couple of snoozers next to him. Slack handful of coppers on bikes, couple of ambulances. Two olympic coaches, an ambulance, a couple of police cars.

Waste of money.

Bit of an anti-climax for me ...
Stood for an hour or more in a crowd of people pushing and shoving, trying to get as good a position as possible..
Along came the start of the convoy, just trucks and buses, then the torch.
15 seconds coming towards, 15 seconds going away...
Still, a once in a lifetime thing.
One of the torchbearers has a connection to The Boy's school. They bought their torch in and everyone got their piccy taken holding it.

The Olympic sponsors are so far removed from the Olympic ethos it is beyond unthinkable.........money obviously corrupts them.

DFS
I'm a bit split on this, google modern olympic flame and see what I mean.
Took the Grandkids to see it near Turnberry, the three year old was more excited high fiveing the motor cycle cops.
They were great with the kids.

Was pretty apathetic to start with but HID wanted to go along when it came to Bracknell. She stood roadside but was lucky to be by a handover point and got to touch the torch of the runner who had just finished. I was playing with Hawkeye and heard all the noise from Frankie Dettori at Ascot. It went straight past where I would have been sitting in work if I'd hung on until 6.00 when it came to Reading. Do feel a tiny bit of regret as I won't see it again but to be honest the hype and commercialisation took away any sense of occasion
