Olly has been a clueless Captain. Discuss

Oh Boy, this is only the second Ryder Cup I have followed seriously, but in my opinion Love used every trick to stack the deck in his teams favour, (which is obviously his prerogative), his team has responded to a very noisy and partisan crowd, and they have been able to keep the momentum built in the first days play going. They have only really have one player play badly (Tiger), and the US team seems a very solid unit. The European Team has not reacted well (apart from IJP) to the noisy crowd, they have struggled to start breaking down the US momentum and when getting into potential hole winning positions, there putts have been poor. (When I say poor, I mean in relation to the US). I honestly think todays singles will be different, Olly has made Seve such a part of this team, that something has to give, and maybe IJP can be an example that Olly can use to re-energise his team. Without all the facts regarding pairs selection its difficult to be sure if selections were right or wrong, but teams have to want to play, and maybe there were weaknesses within the team that meant individuals weren't up for the fight at different stages of the competition. One thing I do know is that ALL the team have to be up for the game today, if Seve can inspire the European Team to grow a pair and get out their and fight then we have a chance, if not it could be an early night for all of us.

The problem is the course is set up to suit the US. Most of them are wayward off the tee so there is no rough and you can blast it anywhere and get a lie which suits them to a tee. The greens are quick and again set up to benefit their superior putting. There have been a few that have played below their best but the US have just holed more long putts than we have. I don't think Olly has been an abject failure and to be honest it is the course set up above all that has kept the US in this

I don't know that much about golf. I also wasn't in Medinah speaking to and watching the players at close quarters. Heck I can't even get into our Tolly team let alone boast the kind of Ryder Cup record Olazabal has. But despite all of that some of his decisions have been mind boggling: persisting with an out of sorts Westwood, pairing Hanson & Lawrie, leaving Poulter on the bench on Friday Afternoon... AND I might add these aren't things I thought with the benefit of hindsight. These were questions I was thinking when the pairings were announced. I also look at the team and as a whole they seem quite flat, with the exception of the inspirational Poulter.

I think Olly would probably have performed better at a home Cup but if Monty was in charge I have a feeling it would be a lot closer. Your thoughts...

Crock of

End of discussion.

Just make the opening post look like an even bigger crock of *blankety blank!*

God he has been a shocking captain hasn't he??? I suppose taking Europe to the USA and retaining the Ryder cup was nothing to do with him was it and I suppose picking our player of the tournament (Poulter) was nothing to do with him either 😕
