After that momentus result, having seen Europes' amazing come back and with 20/20 hindsight.

If you were the captain both U.S and European sides, what would you have done differently?

USA:

I would have left Jim Furyk on the range and taken Hunter Mahan.

Europe:

I would have played Poulter with Lawrie instead of Hanson. I thought that would have given a better result than the former ( Even at the time).

I wouldn't have changed what Davis Love did, ok he lost but I reckon he got his pairings and order today right, he came up against an inspired European team today

With Oli, drop Westwood yesterday, I wouldn't have stuck with Mcilroy and Gmac as a pairing as I don't think they compliment each others game but he got the batting order bang on today

I would have accepted that Europe were going to stack the top order of the draw with Luke , Poults , Rory , etc & poped my stricker , snedddeker [sp] furyk out & hope maybe they got something .. then let Bubba, Phil, Keegan Bradley, & my other in form players let rip on Europes not so in form players ..

Not so sure about Mahan, didnt handle the pressure at Celtic manor when required ...

Europe ? Hard to say, as a Captain it didnt look good because his team was not performing as they were capable of , & on morning 2 the yanks made every putt they looked at .. Did well to keep the guys focussed for battle in the singles ..

Have to agree with this, it was most certain the top order was going to be Europe in form players so was a USA gamble going toe to toe, with there form guys although they hadn't done badly previous 2 days!

We can talk about the pairings and tactics until the cows come home but the simple fact is the Americans holed every putt they looked at over the first 2 days and the roles were reversed in the singles. Even then it took 3 genius putts from Rose on 16,17 and 18 to really build that momentum and belief that we had a chance to do the impossible. The whole thing was basically a putting competition.

Could you imagine, in hindsight, if Bubba had have played Coelsarts or even Westwood? Or even Kaymer or Molinari? It would have been over 5&4! I think the only option Ollie had was to put the strong ones out first, and I think DL3 could have put some stronger players a tad later to secure more mid-table matches.

Furyk wasn't a good pick by Love, would have picked fowler, mahan and watney all ahead of him (fowler my first choice)
furyk had a bad ryder cup record pre medinah, seemed a sucker pick

Don't get me wrong these are great players all capable of hitting great shots but the difference was undoubtably the putting. The course was basically set up to allow as many birdies as possible. There was virtually no penalty for a wayward drive. Tee to green there was virtually nothing to seperate the 2 teams overall so yes in the end it came down to putting.

As soon as we put the yanks under pressure they crumbled. It wouldnt of mattered which way round the americans put their team imo because as soon as the going got tough they were running for cover. When Justin Rose won 17th and 18th to beat Mickelson you could see they were on the ropes big time. The europeans were growling and fist pumping after every putt and once the momentum started it didnt stop.

Imagine if the yanks had put their weakest out first and they got destroyed by Donald, Poulter, Rose and Rory? Them matches would of been over pretty sharpish and the pressure still would of been there for the later players.

I think with our team Lawrie and Coelsarts could of played more but i can understand why Ollie picked the experienced thoroughbreds over them.
