To those that believe the few on here, who are trying to articulate the issues they have experienced with WHS, are somehow in a minority how would you explain the existence of these articles? And there are more...

I'd guess these are just random links from a google search, and you just assumed they support your cause without even bothering open the articles behind the (click-bait) headlines?

Seriously though, one of them is from 2017, years before WHS was launched, and is generally supportive. (edit: comment struck-out as link corrected to intended target prior to posting this reply, per #1,173)
Another is just publicising the recent survey.
Two are a collections of (generally uninformed) comments, both pro and anti, with no evidence to support anything and devoid of fact-checking, analysis or conclusion.
One is a rant by a low handicapper who was being less than honest about their own golf during the year.

If you are going to direct us to articles on the subject, please read them first - and be honest about what they contain.

And?

What’s the answer?

Take the real world example of a young lad at my club won 4 comps in a row and came 2nd in the 5th earlier this year. The first was a monthly stableford at the beginning of the year off a playing handicap of 48.

At the start of the year his index was in the 50s it’s now mid teens and he’s won a few comps on the way down. He’s over 50 scores in his record this year. If he was only allowed to put in comp scores there is a good chance he would have won a hell of a lot more. Looking at his GP rounds from earlier in the year there are a couple that would have been 50 stableford points even with a couple of blobs.

I did the same when I started. Was off 28 for a few weeks before winning a monthly medal and down to 24. The first year I won loads of comps and 4BBB opens as the handicap system couldn’t catch up with my rate of improvement. I won a lot, and I was called all sorts of names by older members. Now, if I had been encouraged and able to put in GP scores at any time, I would not have won anywhere near as much as my handicap would have come down much quicker.

So it happened back then.

What mechanism would you put in place to compensate for these situations?
Handicaps came down quicker under UHS, now a big round is diluted x8, whereas conversly it's very easy to go up quickly.

Click bait in some cases.

One is just informing that there is a survey. Others the usual complaining from people who can’t grasp the change or don’t understand the system.

It’s time we stopped moaning about WHS

Do any of those articles answer the questions you keep swerving?

There was moaning about Congu and UHS and there will prob be moaning about the next system

I think Carly Frost, just to single out one, knows the system and grasps the change pretty well. She makes her point very well in the Golf Monthly article.

Surely the survey wouldn't have been necessary if enough golfers shared your view on WHS?

I think the question you want answering is to do with introducing players who are new to the game into your club? That will be done in different ways depending on the club and has little to do with WHS.

I've read them all and none are from 2017.

Paul, you keep harping on that players were restricted to 28 before WHS, this is nonsense, UHS already allowed up to 54 handicaps
No it wasn’t CONGU advised in 2018 that Handicaps up to 54 were to be introduced, it wasn’t actually introduced as mandatory until the introduction of WHS in 2020, here’s an article explaining this.

54 handicaps were introduced in 2019 under CONGU UHS. They had previously been available as "club" or "disability" handicaps before that.

Clubs have always been permitted to place limits on their competitions and that remains the case. While clubs are strongly encouraged to provide the opportunity for competition golf to all using their full handicap allowance, there is no requirement for that to be in the same comps as lower handicaps or for any/all comps to be open to all without limits.

Anyway, my point is that it's caused quite the controversy and having a go at some of us by suggesting we are in the minority is hard to justify.
