I always thought that in a Medal round I had a chance if I shot a couple under my handicap pre WHS, now I know I don't stand a chance.
And here is the crux of the problem - some lower handicappers feel entitled to be in with a good chance of winning when scoring nowhere near their best, but expect higher handicappers to have to shoot the round of their life to feel the same.

I don't understand why a good golfer would actually want to participate in a comp like this.
My only sports outside golf have been team sports.
In a cricket league we played in a divisional structure against teams of similar abilities. I wouldn't have put our first XI into a competition playing against made up pub teams of enthusiastic but talentless non-cricketers.
It seems more an issue of golf club competition formats rather than the handicapping mechanism itself.
Club golf fomats as you call them have had a handicap system since before any of us were alive. Thyey were based on an assumption that everyone had a fair chance of winning.

You're seemingly suggesting that clubs should throw their trophies in the bin, some maybe over 100 years old, because the administrators of the game have made a monumental pigs ear of the revised system, and come up with new paramaters becasue the USGA & R&A couldn't create a fair system.

You'll see why I and others think that's the wrong way around?

Before I answer your question, I would ask you if you thought you stood a better chance in the same field prior to WHS.

In answer to your question, I feel you are wrong, because imo, you low Single figure Golfers have never had much of a chance in any handicap comp due to the sheer numbers you are up against.
Your opinion is trumped by statistics, even the happy clappers on here admit there was a slight bias towards lower handciaps with UHS, that's now been reversed - and as we're seeing as more data comes along - quite radically in favour of high handicaps

Once again you’ve missed my opinion, time and time again I have stated WHS has had the most impact on lower handicaps. However, they also really didn’t care about high handicappers under the UHS.

But what I’m reading from them is poor me all the time.

Handicap competitions are not what low handicappers should be basing their enjoyment on. Unfortunately for them scratch comps are were it is at.

So 9 handicappers should be trying to win scratch events? The guys in the 4-9 'cap range are in no man's land now.

You're not really reading it if you're getting 'poor me' all the time.

Most people are on here making their point in the hope that they help to get the game they love back on track for everyone to enjoy.

That’s me! Hence why I take the moaning of the old Cat 1’s as a pinch of salt.

Unless I was to have my day in the sun I have never expected to win any handicap Comp under UHS or WHS.

I enter every Comp, enter the 2’s and concentrate on getting my handicap as low as I can.

Good luck to the guys who now get their proper initial handicap and let’s catch the cheats and castrate them.👍🏻

Moaning on here and giving examples of high handicappers winning everything and then telling me our club must have an issue really isn’t endearing anyone.

I love the game just as much, I haven’t lost any faith, I play for me.

But they clearly don't, they are getting too many shots for their ability, and this isn;t just about initial handicaps, have you missed the point entirely?

Of course they do! Hasn’t Aussie given an example of a genuine guy off 38 winning their latest comp?

Was he lying or are we not to trust him?

You just preferred the previous system were that guy would of lost 10 shots for that comp and stood no chance.

I whole heartadly agree about cheats

That is a Trumpian level misrepresentation, exaggeration and distortion of a point of view you disagree with. Again.
I'm waiting for you to suggest that WHS ate your cat.
